The results were revealed in a survey conducted by Gallup in 1999. The results are likely more significant in 2026 with the rebirth of psuedoscience information going around on social media networks.

The survey results showed that around 18% of Americans aged 18-34 do not believe in the Moon landing, compared to just 8% aged 35-54 and 3% aged over 54.

The top reasons that the surveyed Moon landing deniers point to several claims. 41% of those believe the waving flag was evidence the Moon landing was staged. Furthermore, 14% believe there was not enough moisture on the Moon to create a footprint. 12% believe the radiation from the Van Allen belts would have killed the Astronauts. Another 10% believe that shadows from studio lights are visible.

However, Moon landing deniers are favorable with regard to the existance of alien life. Around 75% of those surveyed believe that aliens have visited Earth, compared to 43% if believers.

PDS 70 Planet Growth Update

Hey, joshtospace just posted a new post! Go check it out!
https://www.instagram.com/p/DXwiUNEjbTA/

Located roughly 400 light-years away, PDS 70 is a youthful stellar system—only about 5.4 million years old—centered on a K-type star. Astronomers have directly observed at least two developing gas giants, PDS 70b and PDS 70c, embedded within a dense circumstellar disk of dust and gas. Because these planets are still accreting material, the system offers a rare snapshot of planetary growth in progress.

Often described as an emerging analogue to a newborn solar system, PDS 70 provides valuable insight into how giant planets form and interact with their natal disks. Observations show the surrounding material actively feeding the planets, helping researchers study the early stages of planetary assembly and system evolution.

Why Moon Landing Photos Show No Stars

Hey, joshtospace just posted a new post! Go check it out!
https://www.instagram.com/p/DXvKT_MDQZj/

The Moon landing photos do not show stars because the cameras were set to photograph very bright subjects. The Moon’s surface and the astronauts’ white suits reflect strong sunlight, so the cameras used fast shutter speeds and low sensitivity. These settings made faint objects like stars too dim to appear in the pictures.

The astronauts used specially modified Hasselblad cameras with exposure settings similar to taking photos on a sunny day on Earth. When you take a daytime photo, the sky often looks empty even though stars are still there. The same thing happened on the Moon—the stars were present but the camera could not capture them.

If you take one of the Moon landing photos and increase the brightness or contrast, some stars can be seen in certain images. This works because a small amount of starlight was captured, just not enough to be visible at normal settings. The lack of stars in the original photos is a normal result of how cameras work, not anything unusual.

NASA's James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) captured stunning, detailed infrared images of Uranus, highlighting its faint rings, seasonal north polar cap, and atmospheric storms.

Using NIRCam, Webb resolved 11 of the 13 known rings—including the faint, inner Zeta ring—and captured 14 of its 27 known moons, revealing a dynamic ice giant.

This video shows the process of planting a flag on the Moon. The flag has several poles embedded within it to give it the appearance of a flying flag for photography. Movements in the flag were caused from the force by the astronauts setting it into place - not wind - since the Moon has an extremely light atmosphere. #space #nasa

Rolls Royces's plans to build nuclear reactors on the Moon in 2029 have been halted, potentially indefinitely, due to expired government contracts and lack of potential partners.

The project would send a nuclear reactor to the Moon to power a permanent lunar settlement.

The first photograph of the Sun was taken on April 2, 1845, by French physicists Hippolyte Fizeau and Léon Foucault.

Using a 12 cm daguerreotype plate, they captured the image at approximately 9:45 a.m. with an exposure time of 1/60th of a second, successfully revealing distinct sunspots along with the edge of the solar disk.

New Instagram Post LDN 1622 Dark Nebula

LDN 1622, situated within the Orion complex approximately 1,500 light-years from Earth, represents a dense region of interstellar dust known as a dark nebula. These silhouettes occur when concentrated cosmic grains obscure the visible light from background stars and ionized hydrogen gas.

Such regions are critical sites of stellar evolution, serving as the cold molecular nurseries where gravitational collapse eventually leads to the formation of new star systems. Studying these opaque clouds allows astronomers to better understand the chemical composition and physical conditions of the interstellar medium.

Fornax Cluster Deep Field Spotlight

The Fornax Cluster represents one of the most densely populated regions of the local universe, located approximately 62 million light-years from Earth. As the second richest galaxy cluster within one hundred million light-years, it serves as a critical laboratory for studying galactic evolution and gravitational interactions.

This deep field perspective highlights the diversity of galactic morphologies, from dominant elliptical systems to smaller spiral structures, all bound by the immense dark matter halo of the cluster. Understanding these large-scale structures provides vital data on how galaxies migrate and transform within high-density cosmic environments over billions of years.

Comet C/2025 F2 SWAN presents a significant opportunity for astronomical observation as it traverses the inner solar system. Identified through data from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, this celestial object features a distinct coma and tail formed by the sublimation of volatile ices as it nears perihelion.

Studying these primitive bodies provides critical insights into the chemical composition and evolutionary history of the early solar nebula. Ongoing spectroscopic analysis of the gas and dust emissions will further our understanding of cometary dynamics and the distribution of organic molecules in space.

In November 1969, the Apollo 12 mission achieved This landmark technical feat of precision landing near the robotic Surveyor 3 spacecraft on the Ocean of Storms. This photograph captures astronaut Alan Bean inspecting the probe, which had arrived on the lunar surface two years prior.

By retrieving components from Surveyor 3 for terrestrial analysis, NASA engineers gained critical data on how long-term exposure to the lunar environment affects human-made materials, informing the structural design of future deep-space habitats. This mission remain a pivotal case study in human-robotic synergy and extraterrestrial logistics.

Io Volcanic Activity Spotlight

Jupiter moon Io remains the most geologically active body in our solar system, characterized by hundreds of erupting volcanoes. This intense thermal activity is driven by tidal heating, where the gravitational pull of Jupiter and its neighboring moons creates internal friction. Observations of Io provide critical data on planetary evolution and the complex dynamics of orbital resonance.
