Fixing Forge 1.20.1 Startup Crashes on WiseHosting

Summary

This announcement addresses a common startup crash on WiseHosting involving Forge 1.20.1 servers and the libXrender.so.1 error. It highlights the importance of using the -Djava.awt.headless=true JVM flag to resolve native library issues. Users experiencing similar technical difficulties are encouraged to open a support ticket for direct assistance from the WiseHosting team.

"My Forge 1.20.1 server crashes on startup with libXrender.so.1: cannot open shared object file. I need the JVM flag -Djava.awt.headless=true added to my server's startup command. This flag isn't available in the JVM flags panel. Can you add it manually?" heres the last line before my server command line hangs:

forge 1.20.1 crashes on startup because its missing libxrender.so.1: cannot open shared object file. ive asked claude and it tells me that it needs a jvm flag called -Djava.awt.headless to be equal to true in the start up command. is there anyway to fix this?
