mar7aba! I am a daughter of Lebanese immigrants who moved to the west to escape the war. When I was a kid, I used to go to Lebanon every summer and overall I always felt like I am more Lebanese then Western. Now that I am married & moved out, I am looking to establish my own life in Lebanon, without relying on my parents to take me every summer as they stopped visiting as often.
I want to be able to establish my life in Lebanon, I can not move there yet, but I want to start visiting every summer again. The problem is - I don't know where to start. I have a Lebanese citizenship card, but it has not been updated since I was born (it doesn't even have a photo on it). I am assuming I would start there, updating that, but I don't even know how to do that.
Anyone in the same boat as me? How did you do it? Any tips?
My end goal is to buy a home in Lebanon so when I have kids in the future I can keep bringing them and giving them the beautiful childhood I had in Lebanon.
I am assuming I would update my citizenship card, open a bank account, what else would you recommend? Shukran for all your help :)

I will be visiting family during christmas/new years time in Beirut. I speak Arabic at a child level and fluent Armenian if that matters. Figured with the free time I'll have during the day that I can volunteer.

Hello, I'm looking to rent a new apartment and I want your recommendations regarding where.
My priorities are somewhere safe, not more than 20 min from Beirut, with mixed religions, and with fiber internet preferably.
By safe I mean neighborhoods where I can drive around at night without issue and have a morning walk with a bunch of old people and their dogs.
Fast and reliable internet is absolutely necessary.
Thanks!

Hi! I will be making my first trip to Lebanon in a few days, after doing about a year of research into my grandfather's background. For reference, he was a Lebanese-Australian but his parents never taught him Arabic and he unfortunately never got the chance to visit.
My grandfather's paternal lineage was from Bsharri and his maternal lineage was from El Mina. Both parents were Maronites.
The Bsharri families he descends from are: Rahme, Kayrouz, Arida, Diab, Rafoul and Gibran
The El Mina families he descends from are: Sarkis and Hashem
I am very curious to see if I can find any birth/marriage/death records. Do the Maronite parishes keep these records from before 1920?
My family has not really had any ties to the country (cousins, contacts) since the 90s, so I won't have anyone to meet. If anyone knows about these towns, families or has advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

From my collection. One PMG 64 Specimen and one PMG 25 comment free issued note. These 'carpet notes' dubbed for their intricate and ornate design, were counterfeited at the time, with over 1,000 forgeries discovered in 1952, leading to their withdrawal from circulation.
