What does the YouTried emoji mean?

The ultimate sarcastic participation trophy for when someone really tried, but failed.

This emoji is a classic internet meme used to mock someone's failed attempt at a task or argument with a layer of condescending encouragement. It features the text 'you tried' surrounding a gold star, mimicking the patronizing tone of a teacher giving a sticker to a child for effort rather than results. It is a staple in Discord servers for shutting down bad takes or celebrating spectacular blunders.

When to use it

  • Mocking someone after a failed attempt
  • Responding to a bad take in chat
  • Acknowledging a funny but useless effort
  • Teasing a friend for their poor performance
