What does the clown emoji mean?

The ultimate transformation from a regular smiley into a full-blown clown.

This emoji captures the classic internet meme of 'putting on the clown makeup' in a four-step progression. It is frequently used in Discord and Slack to mock someone who is acting foolish, making bad decisions, or setting themselves up for inevitable failure.

When to use it

  • Calling out someone for acting foolishly today
  • Mocking a friend making a bad decision
  • Highlighting someone setting themselves up for failure
  • Reacting to a clown-like take in chat
