What does the forReal emoji mean?

When you're reading something so ridiculous you have to pause and process the stupidity.

This emoji, often referred to as the 'bruh' or 'reading' emoji, features a 3D-rendered yellow smiley face with a deadpan, unimpressed expression while holding an open book. It is a staple in Discord and internet culture for reacting to absurd, nonsensical, or cringe-worthy statements in chat. It perfectly captures the moment of silent judgment when someone says something that defies all logic.

When to use it

  • Reacting to someone posting a terrible take
  • Expressing disbelief at a nonsensical chat message
  • Showing silent judgment toward a foolish comment
  • Highlighting the absurdity of a shared link
