What does the sob emoji mean?

When you're crying on the inside but keeping a straight face.

This emoji features a distorted, meme-ified version of the classic crying face, blending intense sadness with a smug, knowing smirk. It is a staple of internet irony, used in Discord servers to convey 'pain-posting' or to mock a situation where one is pretending to be okay while clearly suffering. Its deep-fried aesthetic makes it perfect for chaotic or sarcastic conversations.

When to use it

  • Expressing fake sadness during a funny moment
  • Reacting to a mildly inconvenient life event
  • Mocking someone who is overreacting to news
  • Showing ironic detachment during a heated debate
