Iranian Perspective on Hezbollah and Lebanon

Hezb Thoughts From Iranian

Hi. I apologize if outsiders are not wanted here, but I just wanted to share. First, I want to say that I’m deeply sorry for what your beautiful culture and people are going through. I live in the U.S. now, but most of my family is still in Iran, so the fear and uncertainty in Iran and the wider region has been hell. I also want to be clear abt my full respect of Lebanon and humility of my lack of knowledge on your complex history.

But what I do understand very well is the ideology and system that created Hezbollah. The Iranian regime sees Hezbollah as a part of their ideological project that they want to export to the world. They would tell us that patriotism itself is the enemy of Islam.

Khomeini repeatedly said we don’t need patriots, only Islam bc patriotism is the enemy of Islam. Persian history and civilization were mocked.

At like 5 yrs old in school, I’d have to chant “death to America” and “death to Israel”. I saw public hangings and also feared death everyday in school in case I was found out to be a religious minority that was particularly hated by the regime. The clerics incessantly invoked shahids lost during Iran-Iraq war (the war that actually allowed them to consolidate power) and foreign enemies to bully, harass, and force you into submission. They’d brand people zionists for anything, even if idk it was just someone who thought something they were doing was not moral or even truly Islamic. And if you really pissed them off, you were an Israeli spy and you were cooked.

Iran is a country with huge resources and a highly educated population, but after decades of funneling $ to proxy groups across the region & other nonsense, our currency became worthless & millions of Iranians protested. The regime shut off the internet and killed tens of thousands of people in the streets, imprisoned thousands more get hanged later, charged parents $ to get their kids bullet ridden corpses back. They even sent foreign militias in to kill too. And I barely even covered all the fucking evil shit they did in...

What would you tell your past self?

Suppose you could have a conversation with your 2018 self — but it wouldn’t change the future.

Before the Thawra, the financial collapse, the fuel and electricity shortages. Before the port explosion, COVID, the crypto/NFT craze, the AI job apocalypse, Ukraine war, Oct 7, and the wars in Lebanon.

What would you say? And do you think your 2018 self would even believe you?

Genetics and Arab Identity Explained

We are not Arab rhetorics and the annoyance of it

I won’t be going into history nor culture, strictly genetics.

In genetics, the term “Arab” refers to a broad and diverse population grouping with same ancestral roots. Certain genetic markers—most commonly haplogroups J1 and J2—are often associated with populations historically linked to the Arabian Peninsula. Phoenicians, Canaanites, Bedouins, Egyptians and Berbers (to a lesser extent). They all share overlapping haplogroup variants (J1 and J2) due to ancient common ancestry and long-term regional interaction.

While originating from related ancestral populations, present-day Arab-speaking peoples are genetically heterogeneous. This diversity is the result of extensive mixing with indigenous populations in the Levant, North Africa, and Mesopotamia following historical migrations and expansions.

Populations in the UAE and Saudi Arabia largely descend from nomadic or semi-nomadic Bedouin tribes. Kuwait represents a mixture of Bedouin ancestry from the Arabian Peninsula alongside overlapping Iraqi and Iranian gene pools. Moroccans are predominantly Amazigh (Berber). The ancient inhabitants of Libya were indigenous North African peoples known to the Egyptians as the Libu and Meshwesh (Ma) tribes—part of the broader Amazigh population—who lived in the region long before Arab, Greek, or Roman arrivals. Modern genetic studies suggest continuity between ancient Levantine populations and present-day groups: Lebanese are often associated with Phoenician ancestry, while Palestinians are linked to Canaanites—in fact are the same (very similar) related peoples historically and genetically. And so on.

However all of these groups do share J1 and J2 haplogroups, therefore we may conclude, that genetically, all are somewhat related to the same gene pool and therefore are Arab.

This is what we mean by ethnically Arab: a shared gene pool to varying degrees. While understanding one’s ethnicity can be useful—for medical history, genetic predispositions, or simple curiosity—it should never dictate how we treat others or inte...

Lebanese Lentil & Swiss Chard Soup Recipe

Lentil & Swiss Chard Soup

Did You Know? Swiss chard has been eaten since ancient Roman times and was prized for its medicinal qualities. Roman physicians believed Swiss chard helped support digestion and overall vitality. It is rich in vitamins A, C, and K, as well as minerals like magnesium and iron.

Ingredients

  • Swiss Chard
  • 2 Cups Lentils
  • 1 Cup Rice
  • 1 Carrot
  • 1 White Onion
  • 2 Garlic Cloves
  • 1 tbsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • Salt
  • Olive Oil
  • Lemon Juice

Directions

  1. Heat a large pot over medium heat and add 1 liter of water.
  2. Add the lentils and rice to the pot.
  3. Peel and slice the Swiss chard, then add it to the pot along with the sliced carrots.
  4. Cover and let everything cook.
  5. Add cumin, cinnamon, and salt. Stir well, cover again, and let the soup boil and fully cook until tender.
  6. In a separate pan, heat olive oil. Add the sliced onion and minced garlic, and sauté until soft.
  7. Add the onion and garlic mixture directly on top of the soup.
  8. Finish with a splash of lemon juice, stir, and remove from heat.

Sabra and Shatila, October 7, and Double Standards

Why is sabra and shatila condemned but October 7 justified?

Everything people rightly accuse Israel of doing to Palestinians, the palestinians done to Lebanese primarily to Lebanese Christian’s however ask any Arab/leftist what they think about October 7 and they will tell you it was justified act of resistance from the native population against foreign invaders etc but the same people who support October 7 condemn sabra and Shatila.

Killing Jews at a music festival wasn’t going to liberate Palestine but it was still ok in the eyes of many across the Arab world so then why shouldn’t sabra and shatila also be viewed in the same way?
