Die erste Phase der Anfal-Operation wurde zwischen dem 23. Februar und dem 18. März 1988 durchgeführt. Sie begann mit Artillerie- und Luftangriffen in den frühen Stunden des 23. Februar 1988. Wenige Stunden später folgten Angriffe auf das Hauptquartier der Patriotischen Union Kurdistans (PUK) im Jafali-Tal nahe der iranischen Grenze sowie auf die Kommandozentralen in Sargallu und Bargallu. Es gab heftigen Widerstand durch die Peschmerga. Die Kämpfe fanden in einem Einsatzgebiet von etwa 1.154 Quadratkilometern (445 Quadratmeilen) statt. Die Dörfer Gwezeela, Chalawi, Haladin und Yakhsamar wurden mit Giftgas angegriffen. Mitte März eroberte die PUK in einer Allianz mit iranischen Truppen und anderen kurdischen Gruppierungen Halabdscha. Dies führte am 16. März 1988 zum Giftgas attack auf Halabdscha, bei dem mehrere tausend Kurden, zumeist Zivilisten, getötet wurden.

The first Anfal stage was conducted between 23 February and 18 March 1988. It started with artillery and air strikes in the early hours of 23 February 1988. The villages of Gwezeela, Chalawi, Haladin and Yakhsamar were attacked with poison gas. During mid March, the PUK, in an alliance with Iranian troops and other Kurdish factions, captured Halabja. This led to the poison gas attack on Halabja on 16 March 1988, during which several thousand Kurdish people were killed, most of them civilians.

I decided I'd announce something new today, which is that we finally have German as one of our official languages! 🇩🇪 this means from now and on, we accept partnerships from German speaking servers and allow German to be spoken across the server! With this change, comes adding the rules and partnership guide in German and celebrating the German reunification day along the iraqi one, which both are on October 3rd!
I hope this change is welcomed by everyone in the server <3
