The Goon Garden 18+ Update: Stoat Migration Plans

IMPORTANT UPDATE

hi everyone! as you know, we have been putting all our efforts into moving the garden over to stoat. this decision came after we learned discord was rolling out mandatory age verification to access nsfw content.

as of yesterday, discord has officially delayed these changes. this is great news because it means we don't have to rush as much as we thought, and it gives stoat more time to add the features that you all love and miss from discord.

to explain what is happening, discord has delayed the march rollout due to massive user backlash. they are now pushing it back to the second half of 2026. they're trying to play PR now by promising more "user-friendly" options like credit card checks or on-device facial estimation, but don't let the headlines fool you. they haven't backed down; they are just trying to calm the storm and stop people from jumping ship.

none of these "concessions" make nsfw communities like ours safe. in fact, we are essentially the only ones who will be targeted by this later in the year. discord is still the same company that tried to force this on us, and we still don't trust them with your data.

so, stoat is still the future of the garden. it is our future home and our backup. i know some of you complained about the move, but stoat was the only option that offered both a mobile and desktop app and showed real promise. i believe in it, and i'm still going to focus on it and do stoat-exclusive content!

i also want to address some of the "helpful" advice we've been getting. we really appreciate that you care, but please trust that we have done our research. we are doing daily research, checking updates, and reading the offical news. there was so much misinformation this past week and it was frustrating. people kept suggesting 'root' (which doesn't allow nsfw) or 'fluxer' (which has no phone app). people were even sharing tweets about delays before they were actually confirmed. if you read something on twitter, please don't take it at face value. look it up and test things yourself. we are doing so much work behind the scenes to keep this community safe. we are more concerned than anyone.

on a personal note, i'm currently away with very bad internet. i sent out updates to my clients previously, but obviously the situation has changed now. i have been incredibly stressed lately - not sleeping well, dealing with hardships irl like losing my cat, and other issues. the stress has been so bad i've been getting shoulder pains and literally growing grey hairs

since we have more time now, i'm going to take a step back, enjoy the rest, and not worry about discord or stoat for a minute. i'm very happy we can finally relax and take the time to perfect this move properly
