The first photograph of the Sun was taken on April 2, 1845, by French physicists Hippolyte Fizeau and Lรฉon Foucault.
Using a 12 cm daguerreotype plate, they captured the image at approximately 9:45 a.m. with an exposure time of 1/60th of a second, successfully revealing distinct sunspots along with the edge of the solar disk.
