February Newsletter Incoming!

It was a relatively quiet month around here but, as always there are still some things to know about the server.

This month being Valentines I thought a spot about our pets would be cute, I tried to grab and fit as many as I could in! If your pet is missing I'm sorry, I'll try to fit them in the next pet feature!

If you are a reader, be sure to check out the Book of the Month Club here at Starlight be grabbing the book club role in https://discord.com/channels/1158279533158473728/1468387762343383294

Hello everyone! We’ve had some new faces join recently, so we wanted to give a proper welcome and a quick rundown of the server.

You can grab roles to unlock more of the server here https://discord.com/channels/1158279533158473728/1468387762343383294. If there are any channels you’re not interested in, feel free to mute them and turn on “hide muted channels” in your server settings to keep things tidy.
Some channels you may want to check out and grab access to include our book club, gaming section, and economy channels.
We also have lots of fun bot games available like Cards Against Humanity, Truth or Dare, Hangry Games, and more, so there’s usually something going on if you’re looking to pass the time.

From time to time, we also raise money for charities. You can learn more about that by checking out the previous two announcements.

As a reminder, we aim to keep a friendly and upbeat vibe here. This server is meant to be a cozy little corner of the internet where you can hang out, unwind, and just enjoy yourself.

If you’re dealing with something heavier and need to vent, we do have venting channels available once you reach level 10 in the server.

You can check your current server rank here https://discord.com/channels/1158279533158473728/1158615878385016873. You level up by chatting, reacting, grabbing roles, and completing weekly quests.

If you ever have any questions or run into issues, you can open a ticket here https://discord.com/channels/1158279533158473728/1291911049309589604 and someone will help you out.

Also, if you do not wish to be pinged for announcements, you can select the drop down in the roles channel to remove the role from yourself.

Welcome home 🖤

@Announcements While we use tip4serv to collect server donations, we are also able to list some charities that can be donated to. 100% of donations through this site go to the charity itself. Our current charities listed are:

• The Trevor Project: a charity providing resources and support for LGBTQ+ youth
• Amica: a charity supporting immigrants, particularly offering legal support
• Community Aid Network MN: a charity based in the Bancroft neighborhood of Minneapolis that provides food and other services to the neighborhood
• The Northwest Immigrant Rights Project: a charity that provides legal assistance for immigrants

We recognize that tensions are high right now, and there are a lot of strong opinions and emotions regarding current events. This is a reminder that this server should remain free of polarizing topics, including politics. We view these charities as nonpolitical, legal, and human rights focused. These organizations are merely listed for people who wish to donate. If you have any concerns, please open a ticket or DM a staff member. The link to the tip4serv is in the message above.

Hello everyone! This announcement is a little different than our usual ones. I wanted to share that the Oklahoma School for the Deaf is currently offering free ASL 101 and ASL 102 classes, open for enrollment at no cost. Turt and I have already signed up and plan to complete the courses together. If anyone else would like to join us, please DM me so I am aware!

If you didn’t know, Turt is deaf/HH, and it feels especially meaningful to be able to take this class alongside him. Learning ASL is a valuable skill even if you don’t currently know someone who communicates that way—you never know when it might be helpful, and it’s a powerful way to help others feel seen, included, and valued

@Announcements I want to take a moment and say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the incredible, creative, fantastic, intelligent, driven, kind, fun, insightful, funny, sassy, awesomest owner we could have, @hollz420! I know that we all appreciate her, but I get the benefit of seeing all her hard work behind the scenes - she is a true powerhouse. She has so many amazing ideas and works very hard to implement them and make the server better! If you see her today, please make sure to wish her a happy birthday! We created a birthday card from some of us around the server - we had to individually message people since she can see all channels, so I apologize if we missed anyone.

HAPPY BIRTHDAYYYYYYY
