My problem is exactly what the title says.

Gives me the error:
"net.minecraftforge.fml.LoadingFailedException: Loading errors encountered: ["
I bought a server because I thought it would be easier then self hosting but if I'm going to have to do just as much work if not more then what is the point of this.

Also, all the tutorials I've seen so far are so overconfident as to be useless. "Just one click modpack install and you are done!" Evidently if it crashes on launch every time then that's not the only step.

Is the helpful modpack option under versoin simply broken and I need to do it all manually? (if so how do I refund this because thats more work then selfhosting)

That error is very generic and doesn't tell us what's actually wrong. Please share your full startup log or crash log (latest.log or the crash report)...

Apparently the answer was to get angry and forcibly restart the same server over and over and over again because it suddenly started working on the 15 or so reinstall of bmc 4
