Wisterwild Server: Important Chunk Trimming Update
Summary
The Wisterwild community is implementing a necessary chunk trimming update to reduce the world file size and maintain server stability, which will require a brief server downtime on Tuesday. This process will save all areas with player interaction and Lands claims, clearing everything else, so players should ensure they spend time in any temporary bases they wish to keep. Additionally, a new world border of 250k blocks from spawn will be introduced to help manage performance.

Our world has been growing exponentially — which is amazing — but it also means it’s time for a trim! :scissors:
On Tuesday (see below for the exact date/time in your time zone), the server will go offline briefly while we reduce the world file size.
:lock: What’s Being Saved
- All areas with at least 5 minutes of interactions (chunks where players have lived or spent time).
- All Lands claims (/lands claim areas).
- Everything else will be cleared.
:point_right: If you’ve set up a temporary base or stash somewhere and haven’t spent much time there yet, make sure to grab your things or hang out there for a few minutes so it registers as active!
:tools: Why Are We Doing This?
When the world file grows too large, it can cause serious issues like:
- Chunks randomly deleting.
- Nametagged mobs despawning.
- New data not saving properly.
Regular trimming keeps the world stable, healthy, and playable for everyone. :green_heart:
:earth_africa: What This Means for You
This trimming is in addition to our current systems like WildRegeneration, Lands claiming, and upkeep. Nothing is being replaced.
A world border of 250k blocks from spawn will also be introduced. You can still explore freely within this radius — it’s huge — but it helps us manage performance and file size. If you have a base beyond 250k blocks, please open a ticket BEFORE chunk trim on Tuesday so we can support you!
:sparkles: And don’t worry: we’re also cooking up some new features for Season 2 in December to make world management even smoother and more sustainable long-term.
