Modes vs Base Color Guide

Summary

Absolute Glitcher explains the difference between Base Color (a character's core emotion or theme) and Mode (their behavioral state or action path). The announcement lists each color mode and examples and clarifies the submode rule: the first color is the main color and must be set. This system helps create more flexible, realistic characters and avoids confusion.

Original Post

Mode ≠ Base Color
Mode and Base Color are not the same thing, and they serve different purposes.
Base Color represents a character’s core emotion, theme, or inner state.
It answers the question:
“How does this character feel?”
Mode represents a character’s behavioral state or decision path.
It answers the question:
“What does this character choose to do?”
Because of this:
A character can share the same Base Color but act differently depending on their Mode.
A character can stay in the same Mode while their emotions (Base Color) change.
Changing Mode does not automatically mean changing emotion, and vice versa.
This separation allows characters to be more complex, flexible, and realistic,
and it prevents the system from becoming confusing or limiting.
In short:
Base Color = emotion / theme
Mode = action / behavior / path

Note ! : When a character has two colors (e.g. 💛🩷), the first color on the left (💛) is the main color, while the second color (🩷) is a mixed color.
The main color represents the character’s core identity and is the only color used for the real/serious mode.
Mixed colors do not define real modes.
