  • On The Trickster's Rank Up UI, rarely, the S-rank effects will blink in and out and remain when S rank ends.
  • The Mastermind's charge remains active without player input when quickly double tapping the power button.

Characters - The Mastermind

Refactor done in the Virulent Bound power. This specifically tackles the desync issues found while using the power. Will also improve responsiveness for most of his power usage. As well changed how we detect a collision with other characters (Survivors,ย Killers, Zombies) while grabbing aย Survivor. It will now properly detect the size of the character collision size.
- Fixed an issue where The Mastermindโ€™s Virulent Bound could glide off a hillโ€™s ledge when falling

  • Improvedย Survivorย Bots' dodging against The Trickster.
  • Survivorย Bots now have as much control as players when speared by The Deathslinger.
  • Tentative fix forย Survivorย Bots sometimes automatically revealing Ghostface from anywhere.
  • Survivorย Bots are now smarter with what they interact with when playing against The Plague.
  • Survivorย Bots now no longer use Plot Twist when infected by The Plague or The Krasue.

Characters

  • Fixed an issue where The Animatronic no longer holds the side of the screen when performing Lobby animation.
  • Fixed an issue where The Animatronic's animation could break when pallet stunned while using Axe Grab on aย Survivor.
  • Fixed an issue where Remove Axe could allowย Survivorsย to walk through The Animatronic in some instances.
  • Fixed an issue where The Nemesis could hitย Survivorsย with Tentacle Strike after they exited the trial.
  • Fixed an issue where The Trapper could bypass trap placement areas by flicking.

Reset Perk language for easier future maintenance.
- To help achieve this, we have added Expanding Tooltips in the user interface:
Status Effects can now be expanded separately to display reminders.
Status Effects each feature unique colour labels, flagging them as positive or negative.
Keybindings associated with a Perk's activated effect are now displayed in within Perk's text description.
Examples: Dead Hard, Come And Get Me!, Dramaturgy, etc

    Simply clicking on your characters' Prestige level will let you access and track your progress

  • The Player Card Badge Menu now includes the option to select between variations on a single Badge (currently used for Prestige Badge Rewards).

  • Fixed an issue whereย Haddie's 'Silent Breach' outfit does not have its Lobby theme playing when equipped.
  • Fixed an issue where outfits in the 'Moonrise' collection are missing their Lobby Themes when equipped.

  • While repairing, whenever you hit a great basicย Skill Check, spend all Tokens. For each Token spent, the Generator gains 2ย permanent Charges.

Self-Preservationย (Rework)
- When anotherย Survivorย is hooked, you gainย Elusiveย forย 20/25/30s.
- The icon has been updated to reflect this change

Unbreakable
- Once per trial, whileย downed by theย Killer, you can fully recover.
- While downed, you recover 25/30/35% faster.
- Note: now only grants theย Survivorย the ability to recover when theย Killerย was specifically responsible for them entering the downed state.

Killerย Perk Updates

Forced Hesitation
- Plot Twist can no longer force this Perk's effect to activate out of theย Killer's control.

Genetic Limits
- Updated to apply theย Exhaustedย status effectย simultaneously when the health state loss is recognized on Survivors, not afterwards.

Hex: Crowd Controlย (Rework)
- The first time aย Survivorย medium or fast-vaults a Window, aย Dull Totemย ignites.
- The lastย 4/5/6ย Windowsย Survivorsย medium or fast-vault are blocked.
- You basic-vault blocked Windowsย 15%ย faster.

Pop Goes The Weasel
- Whenever you hook aย Survivor, for the nextย 35/40/45s, when you damage aย Generator, it explodes and loses 15% more progress (was 20% current progress, now total progress-only).

- Updated to trigger earlier whenย Generatorsย are completed to block healing abilities ofย Survivorsย occurring simultaneously.

- Each Style Rank improves The Trickster's Blade throw and Locker Restocking speed.
- Main Event can now only be activated once reaching the highest Style Rank.
- Style Points and Style Ranks are tracked via a new user interface element custom-made for The Trickster.

- Fixed an issue where Killers kept the Undetectable status effect from Trail of Torment if the generator became blocked by any means.
- Fixed an issue where The Mastermind could be affected by the effects of Hex: The Third Seal after using vault attacks or attacks on Survivors with the Endurance status.

  • Increased the probability of Steve Harrington to use the original Scared Scream audio (Steagull) to 10%

Bug Fixes

Audio
- Fixed an issue where performing a Mori with any Killer triggers the voice line of 2 specific Killers during 2V8.

Characters
- Fixed an issue where The First was unable to perform the Traverse Upside Down Killer Power after hooking a Survivor.
- Fixed an issue where the outer ring of The First's Vine attack aiming reticle stayed the same color for the duration of the Trial.
- Fixed an issue where The First's Vine attack animation will not play when done right after cancelling a non-fully charged vine attack.
- Fixed an issue where The Houndmaster's Commands were temporarily unavailable for a few seconds after dropping from a high elevation.
- Fixed an issue where The Ghoul's Kagune Leap remained active when pressing the vault prompt immediately after vaulting with Kagune Leap.
- Fixed an issue where The Ghoul walked at regular speed while holding the power when quickly missing a Kagune Leap after a successful one.
- Fixed an issue where The Ghoul could attack downed Survivors when using Kagune Leap near vault points.
- Fixed an issue where The Ghoul's vault attack animation did not play if The Ghoul moved forward after vaulting a window.
- Fixed an issue where The Skull Merchant's Drone clipped inside her when Deploying a Drone.
- Fixed an issue where sometimes The Dredge's Reign of Darkness ability did not show locker auras, blocking The Dredge from teleporting.
- Fixed an issue where The Mastermindโ€™s Virulent Bond could injure Survivors near pallets that were farther away than intended.
- Fixed an issue where The Legion would clip inside the Pallet when vaulting while in Feral Frenzy.
- Fixed an issue where The Pig could damage Survivors from the other side of a Jigsaw Box.
- Fixed an issue where terrain was visible when The Xenomorph exited a specific Control Station in several maps.

  • 60 second cooldown where the Haste bonus is not applied.

NEW SURVIVOR CLASS: TORCHBEARER

Class Skill:
- Starts with Flashlight of uncommon rarity.
- Class Skill charges over 60 seconds, granting a Flash Grenade when fully charged.
Behaves like an ability; does not take up any item slot.
- Press the Active Ability button 2 to activate the Flash Grenade.
- Cooldown 60s.

Info Skill:
- Survivors in chase have their aura revealed to you within 32 meters.
- Point a Flashlight at a Killer for 0.5 seconds to reveal them for 2 seconds.

Unlockable Skill:
- Grant Endurance to Survivors you pick up from the Dying State. Injured Survivors that unhook you gain Endurance.

SURVIVOR CLASS UPDATE

Scout โ€“ Unlockable Skill:
- Increase your walking speed by 25% and make no grunts of pain while injured.
- Grants immunity to screaming.

FEATURES

Tonics:
- Herb gameplay returns in the form of tonics! They can be found in locations where you would normally find totems and are scattered throughout the map.
- There are two types of tonics that have different effects for Survivor and Killers:

Diluted Tonic:
- Survivor: Restores a health state on use.
- Killer: Increases Haste by 10% for 20 seconds.

Purified Tonic:
- Survivor: Restores a hook state on use.
- Killer: Grants a 10% Haste bonus to both Killers for 20 seconds.

Dual Terror Radius:
- We have updated the Terror Radius to reflect both Killers in range, adjusting the audio tracks for each Killer as they get closer to or further from Survivors.
- The Visual Terror Radius indicator from the Accessibility settings has also been updated to show both Killers when in range, including Lullabies and regular Terror Radii.

Cooperative Healing:
- Increased the number of Survivors able to simultaneously heal one another to 3 (was 2).

NEW KILLER

The Good Guy - Innate Skills:
- Slice & Dice turn speed increased by 10%.
- Increased Hidey-Ho Mode uptime by 15%.
- Performing a Scamper under a pallet breaks it immediately.
- The Good Guy can see Illusionary Footfalls around Survivors.
- Increased Slice & Dice attack duration by 50%.

KILLER UPDATE

The Nemesis:
- Added 2 additional Zombies for a total of 4.
- Increased Zombie movement speed by 35%.

KILLER CLASS UPDATES

Brute - Team Skill:
- Break action speed increased by 25%.
- Kicking a Generator causes it to weaken and begin regressing.
The aura of the kicked generator will appear in yellow to the Brute.
- The next time a Survivor interacts with the Generator and repairs it past its regression point, it explodes triggering a loud noise notification and sprays the Survivor with smoke. The Survivor suffers from the Hinderedย status effect for 12 seconds.
The aura of the generator returns to red after the effect occurs.
- Cooldown for 60 seconds where break action speed bonus is not applied.

Fearmonger - Team Skill:
- Gain 5% Haste when unseen.
- Injuring a Survivor by any means causes up to 2 Survivors within 12 meters of the injured Survivor to scream, revealing their aura to your teammate for 2 seconds.
- Cooldown for 60 seconds where Haste bonus is not applied.

Enforcer - Team Skill:
- Gain 3% Haste when chasing an injured Survivor.
- When you hit a Survivor, the Survivor receives the Enforcerโ€™s Mark, which is visible to both you and your teammate.
- Survivors with Enforcerโ€™s Mark applied have their aura revealed for 1 second every 8 seconds while marked for 45 seconds. Downing the Survivor consumes the mark and increases the Enforcer's lunge attack distance by 60% for 15 seconds.

The animation team is investigating how the Survivor animation would work when interacting with the Shrine of Repentance, a placeholder name for the Killer object that Survivors will use to pray and save others from Exile.ย 

World & Characters Art

Letโ€™s talk Hopeless Exile. This place in between is in its early stages but based on the teamโ€™s initial proposals, it will leave you...hopeless. Right now, weโ€™re in the research and concept phase, focusing on defining the general vision and how art will work with the plans for the gameplay.ย 
As for the characters, the art team is hard at work creating their final concepts for the next vote by combining the previous winning results into a couple exciting and original Survivor and Killer visual proposals.ย 

Perks

The Perks are in the brainstorming stage, and the team is putting together options that could work well within the narrative. After syncing with our creative director, the next step is going to be putting the ideas onto paper and doing an internal check with other designers.ย

Grimms Update

Hey there!ย 
With the first voting phase done, and the second phase underway, the team is hard at work on bringing The Grimoire, our first community-made Chapter, to life.ย 
You're an important part of this process, and we wanted to walk you through whatโ€™s been happening behind the scenes. As is expected from the development process at this stage, a lot of this is bound to change, but we still wanted to take you with us every step of the way as we iterate on the many different aspects of this Chapter.ย 

Gameplayย 

After the votes for the Killer Power were done, our design team held a kickoff meeting with art, programming, and animation to explain the full design for the Power. Once everyone was aligned, design and programming started working on the prototype.ย ย 
Their first step was to explore how the Exile and the active Power, Ray of Retribution, would work and if they would fit within the Dead by Daylight gameplay before testing them. The internal playtest with our consultants showed encouraging results, but as expected, we were not there yetโ€ฆExile was too easy and not very rewarding, and the Ray of Retribution was too difficult and repetitive. The team went back to the drawing board to explore ways to expand and add more depth to the gameplay. And thatโ€™s where we are at today.

VFX

While design and programming are figuring out how the Ray of Retribution will work, our VFXย  team has been busy researching and defining the art direction and the visual effects that would fit with our divine Killer. First on the list is the Pillars of Light, a placeholder name for one of the features of the Exile, and the team is currently testing its functionality and defining its look and feel.ย ย 
They also continue to support the prototype by creating all the visual feedback needed.ย

DEV NOTE: Vampire Form is slightly less oppressive in short loops where movement slowdown had less of an impact, and toning down Wolf Formโ€™s mobility, which has been outclassing some dash Killers. On the flip side, youโ€™ll find Bat Form easier to control in tighter spaces and can use Hellfire slightly more frequently and reach further with it.ย 

THE GHOUL

- When grabbing a Survivor on the other side of a vault with Kagune Leap, the Survivor is released at the start of The Ghoulโ€™s vault instead of at the end.ย 

DEV NOTE: Itโ€™s no secret that itโ€™s been a common pain point for Survivors to be locked in place when hit with a Kagune Leap Grab-Attack across a vault. Survivors shouldnโ€™t have to wait for The Ghoul to finish their vault before being able to move again, so weโ€™ve removed this tech.ย 

THE ONI

- Hooking a Survivor now spawns more blood orbs.ย 

DEV NOTE: We understand that with the changes weโ€™re making to address slugging, this will impact The Oni slightly, so we want to mitigate this. By turning hooked Survivors into a greater source of power gauge build-up, The Oni is rewarded with more quickly snowballing power by hooking.ย 

PERK UPDATES

  • Updated various perks.ย 

DEV NOTE: In addition to the general perk balance updates you can expect each release, we've also made a number of adjustments to account for the new systems coming to DbD this update, specifically relating to slugging and tunneling.ย

DbD Patch Notes: Clown, Unknown, Dark Lord Buffs

  • Increased how long the Afterpiece Tonicโ€™s Hindered effect lingers after leaving smoke.ย 

DEV NOTE: Weโ€™ve heard your feedback that The Clownโ€™s easier-to-activate Haste can make instigating and maintaining chases less interactive for Survivors. That, coupled with nerfs to his purple bottles has pushed players towards this frustrating tactic. To make both bottles feel like viable options without being too oppressive, weโ€™ve adjusted the values of their most impactful qualities to strike a balance between pre-9.1.0 values and Live values.ย 

THE UNKNOWN

- Increased the additional time added to Weakened when injured by a UVX projectile.ย 
- Increased movement speed recovery after teleporting.ย 
- Increased camera vertical range.ย 
- Adjusted several add-ons.ย 

[p align="center"]ย [/p]DEV NOTE: The Unknown is largely considered to be fun to play as and against, and we want to preserve that while adapting to the current state of gameplay. Weโ€™ve buffed the UVX slightly, while also taking what we learned from The Animatronic to allow for orbitals, improving UVX aiming and making for even more fun gameplay.ย 
Itโ€™s also likely no surprise that Blurry Photo is the most used add-on for the Unknown, given the importance of speed recovery. To help create an opportunity for more add-on experimentation, weโ€™ve converted a portion of this add-on into a basekit buff, while also doing a pass on other add-ons that are due for some adjustments.ย 

THE DARK LORD

- Vampire Form:ย 
Slightly reduced Hellfire cooldown.ย 
Increased total Hellfire pillars by 1.ย 
Reduced Hellfire charge movement speed.ย 
Slightly increased slowdown time after casting Hellfire.ย 
- Wolf Form:ย 
Increased Pounce Attack charge time.ย 
Increased Scent Orb spawn time.ย 
- Bat Form:ย 
Increased movement friction to make flying easier to control.ย

Red By Daylight: The Shape Rework & Clown Buff

  • Once the stalk meter is full, Evil Incarnate mode can be triggered at will, granting the following effects for a limited time (note: Survivors no longer become Exposed):ย 
    4.6m/s movement speed, 40m Terror Radius and an increased vault speed.ย 
    Unlocks Slaughtering Strike ability:ย 
    Hold the power button to charge this ability, reducing movement speed.ย 
    Press the attack button while charging to quickly lunge forward, adjusting your angle as you move. The length of the lunge depends on charge time.ย 
    If a Survivor enters the Killerโ€™s attack range while lunging, they are knocked into the Dying State.ย 
    This ability can also be used to destroy pallets.ย 
    Unlocks the ability to grab and kill or perform a regular Mori on Survivors who would die the next time they are hooked.ย 
  • Adjusted some of the mechanics of stalking:ย 
    Removed the limited pool of stalk points per Survivor.ย 
    Reduced stalk range to 32m and removed distance modifier.ย 
    Moving while stalking has increased movement speed but incurs a reduced stalk rate.ย 
  • Reworked his add-ons. ย 

DEV NOTE: By moving away from linear โ€œEvil Withinโ€ tiers, we wanted to give players more tools they can use to adapt to each Trialโ€™s unique situations, while keeping the core of what makes him โ€œThe Shapeโ€.ย 
Slaughtering Strike makes for a high-threat offensive attack, offering up an insta-down opportunity with an extended lunge that's particularly effective in loops and for ripping through pallets quickly.ย 
Understanding his kit has changed quite a lot, weโ€™ve done a pass on nearly all his add-ons, reworking many of them to offer more unique effects. In particular for those who prefer his old playstyle, Fragrant Tuft of Hair will change Evil Incarnate to function like old Myers, offering an Exposed effect and no Slaughtering Strike. Stay tuned for patch notes for the full details on these changes!ย 

THE CLOWN

- Increased activation time of the Afterpiece Antidote.

Red By Daylight: The Shape Rework & Clown Buff โ†’

DbD Update: Elusive Status, Lore Returns, The Shape Rework

The intention here is for both roles to feel the benefits and incentives that come from spreading hook states. On the one end, Survivors have better opportunities to evade and reset after unhooks, while also limiting those tough situations where losing a Survivor too quickly causes things to go south quickly and snowball. On the other end, Killers are able to apply more map pressure to push back against efficient teams, covering ground post-hook and strengthening gen regression.ย 

ELUSIVE STATUS EFFECT

  • Added a new status effect that silences grunts of pain and suppresses Survivor aura, pools of blood, and scratch marks.ย 

DEV NOTE: To start, weโ€™ll be using this new status effect as part of the tunnelling reduction update, but plan to integrate this into relevant existing perks down the road to make their descriptions more streamlined. Arguably the easiest way to look at this is a Survivor version of Undetectable, in that when itโ€™s active, you know youโ€™re in stealth mode.ย 

โ€œTHE TOMESโ€ LORE UPDATE

- Updated โ€œThe Tomesโ€ menu to feature new Tomes and accompanying lore alongside each Chapter release.ย 
- New lore is unlocked each week within the active Tome.ย 

DEV NOTE: Ever since we reworked the Tome, weโ€™ve seen how much youโ€™ve yearned for more lore. Weโ€™re happy to share that beginning with 9.2.0, lore is back! While previously, lore was tied to challenges, we want all players to have a chance to immerse themselves in these stories, so weโ€™ve shifted to a weekly unlock, not linked to any quest completion.ย 

KILLER UPDATES

THE SHAPE

- Replaced โ€œEvil Withinโ€ with two modes that can be toggled with a button press:ย 
Stalker Mode: 4.2m/s movement speed, Undetectable, and can stalk Survivors.ย 
Pursuer Mode: 4.6m/s movement speed, 24m Terror Radius, increased vault speed, bonuses to lunge range, break speed, and stun recovery, and cannot stalk Survivors.

DbD Update: Elusive Status, Lore Returns, The Shape Rework โ†’

Red By Daylight: New Anti-Tunneling & Hook Changes

This is disabled once all generators are completed.ย 
- Unhooked Survivors gain the following effects for a limited time:ย 
Haste, Endurance, and Elusive (see below) status effects.ย 
No collision with other players (both Killer and Survivor).ย 
Immunity to Killer Instinct and sees the Killerโ€™s aura nearby.ย 
These effects are lost when the affected Survivor perform a Conspicuous Action.ย 
All these effects (except Haste and Endurance) are disabled once all generators are completed.ย 
- Added a unique effect to the Killer hook state UI that indicates the last Survivor they hooked.ย 
- After completing a โ€œunique hookโ€ (the same Survivor is not hooked consecutively), Killers get the following benefits:ย 
Bonus damage for the next generator kick.ย 
Temporary Haste status effect.ย 
Temporarily reveals Survivors (think basekit BBQ & Chili) that have less or equal hook states to the hooked Survivor.ย 
These effects are slightly lessened for The Blight, The Dark Lord, The Ghoul, The Hillbilly, and The Nurse.
These effects are disabled once all generators are completed.ย 
- Added new effects that disincentivize tunneling:ย 
If a Survivor dies before 6 total hook states, all remaining Survivors gain a repair speed bonus for the rest of the Trial.ย 
If the Survivor that was last hooked is Sacrificed or Killed, generators cannot be regressed or blocked.ย 
- Added the option to enable or disable these new mechanics in Custom Games.ย 
- Updated several Survivor and Killer perks to account for these changes.ย 

DEV NOTE: Itโ€™s no secret that tunneling can be seen as an efficient way to play for Killers. While this can be true, itโ€™s also true that the results of this can be frustrating for Survivors, leading to Trials ending too quickly for some, while leaving others to fend for themselves in a match that is now much more difficult.

NEW FEATURES

SLUGGING REDUCTION UPDATE

  • If a Survivor is left in the Dying State for a total of 90 seconds during a match, they gain the ability to pick themselves up after fully recovering.ย 
    Added the option to enable or disable this mechanic in Custom Games.ย 
    Note: Perks that enable you to recover from the Dying State - like Boon: Exponential - will continue to function as before, without needing to meet this requirement.ย 
  • Gradually increases crawling speed for Survivors who are left in the Dying State.ย 
  • Added the ability for Survivors to recover while crawling. Recovery now occurs passively with no need to hold a button.ย 
  • Updated several Survivor and Killer perks to account for these changes.ย ย

    DEV NOTE: When it comes to slugging, we know it can be frustrating if you're on the receiving end of it too often or for too long, but we also know that sometimes it's the smart move. This updated system acknowledges this, allowing the Killer to slug occasionally when they feel like it's the right call, but will eventually kick in and swing in the Survivor's favour if slugging is used excessively.ย 
    A big part of this is also about making the experience of being slugged more pleasant (as much as being slugged can be, at least). The recovery changes and crawling speed will give you a bit more agency when downed so you aren't just holding a button and waiting for someone to come save you.ย 

TUNNELING REDUCTION UPDATE

- When a Survivor is hooked, their hook status is hidden from the Killer. When theyโ€™re unhooked, there is no notification and their hook status isnโ€™t revealed immediately.
