How much money to retire in Lebanon?

Wondering what amount of money would be needed for an expat to return home and retire early? (30-35 years old)

Let's assume the expat is single and own a home and a car and is not looking to have a family

Is this true about this childhood song of ours?

I’m sure everyone here knows: tik tik tik ya em slayman, tik tik tik jawzik wen kan etc …

A friend once told me this song is originally: lam n#ktik ya em slayman, lam n#ktik jawzik wen kan etc ..

Is this true? Because if you sing it the “original” way it makes more sense to me lol

Hairdresser recommendations for very long thin hair

I have very long thin hair that is all the exact same length, I want a good hairdresser in Beirut that would add a little bit of face framing layers while keeping as much of the thickness as possible, usually layers makes my hair very strangely thin and bad looking, any recommendations.

5 Skills Lebanese Students Need Before Graduation

Advice to students in Lebanon: 5 skills I would encourage you to develop before graduating

I work in the tech field, and LLMs are transforming the way we work and the way we recruit. We are no longer looking from the most technical knowledgeable person, but for adaptable individuals with good technical background.

A couple of weeks ago, we had a discussion with HR about what skills will be important in new hires. Here are five that stood out, and why I think students should start developing them now, regardless of what they're studying.

1. Be curious.

Technology, especially AI, is evolving incredibly fast. Don't wait for your teachers or university to introduce you to something new. Explore, experiment, ask questions, and learn on your own.

2. Learn to multitask.

With AI, one person can now work across multiple tools, systems, and tasks simultaneously. Being able to coordinate these activities, prioritize effectively, and keep track of the bigger picture is becoming essential. The challenge is no longer just completing a task, but managing several activities efficiently without losing focus or quality.

3. Be adaptable.

What you learn today might be outdated in a few years, or even months. Technologies, tools, and workflows are constantly changing. Being comfortable with change, willing to learn new tools, and capable of adjusting your approach will matter more than mastering one particular tool.

4. Develop critical thinking.

LLM's can produce very convincing answers that are completely wrong. Simply copying a generated response is not enough. You need to question it, validate it, understand it, and recognize when something doesn't make sense.

5. Learn to read fast and understand quickly.

LLM have made generating information incredibly easy. The challenge is now how quickly you can process it. Whether it's documentation, research, reports, or AI-generated content, being able to read efficiently, identify what's important, and understand new concepts quickly is becoming a major advantage.

Lebanon Change: Citizen Action and Accountability

[Moderator Approved] Nothing can be done about Lebanon? People are already proving otherwise.

Tldr at the bottom

I’m getting pretty sick of hearing that nothing can be done about Lebanon.

I don’t accept it. It's defeatist and contradicts the small yet accumulating wins citizens have already won.

I’m a young Lebanese who has decided that if I’m going to complain about the state of this country, I should at least try to do something about it.

The most important thing I’ve learned from doing this is that I’m nowhere near alone. All across Lebanon there are people doing the work, and while it's been slow, there has been movement.

Over the past decade, Lebanon's change movement has secured incremental but important reforms, including access to information legislation, stronger anti-corruption and public procurement frameworks, new oversight institutions and electoral breakthroughs. These gains have expanded opportunities for citizens to scrutinize the state, challenge decisions and pursue accountability.

This new 'accountability system' is fragmented however, with institutions, political interference and weak enforcement often preventing decisions from being implemented. This is the next step, working out how sustained public pressure can translate formal accountability into practical outcomes, and wins have already began coming through.

We don’t need to start from zero. We need to get better at finding each other, learning from each other, building on what already works and turning thousands of separate efforts into something stronger than the sum of its parts. I really want to support this work and have been doing what one person can do; whatever they can.

I’m doing my best to contribute how I can by putting together a hub that draws from where citizen led action has been successful and translates it into a set of guides, frameworks and tools that can help our people replicate these wins.

The ecosystem of change in Lebanon is growing. I’m just trying to contribute one small piece of infrastructure to it. If you can do nothing else, at least take a look and let me know how you find its usab...

Class reunion initiative

Is it weird if a guy initiates contact with his class friends for a reunion? We've graduated 10 years ago and we all drifted apart, we're still friends but there is no regular contact.
I don't want to look like the guy that is stuck in the past, but it's been 10 years and no one has taken the initiative, someone has to do it at some point no?
