Now see, i know what you could be thinking, “ first impressions aren’t wrong! It’s just based on what we know about them!” Yes, that is true. But you don’t know EVERYTHING about them, You don’t know what they’ve been through, what they’re struggling with, or why they act the way they do. The way some people may depend on them too much, and that isn’t what you can get a first impression, it’s taking time to know the person, why they are so closed off or too talkative. Maybe they were never heard before or seen.
When i am saying, they are often wrong, im not saying you do not have to have a first impression, because it does incredibly matter. When you talk to someone, you are creating a judgement or a format in your mind to know what to say and what not to say, this can be used as a guide in order to lead you through the future. Research shows that first impressions can be substantially wrong once we begin form them. Which can be as a “bias”, leading people to cling to inaccurate assumptions even when new evidence or data emerges.
What’s your take on this?
