In some areas, yes...there are policies and practices that give women preference to address historical underrepresentation..whether those policies are justified is open to debate, but it's reasonable to discuss their effects on men as well

Maybe, maybe not. In a company I know, they had a mentorship program, they did not mention any gender preference or anything else. But they would only shortlist and interview women.

Yes but if you look at a company perspective, they are not wrong. Not having enough representation from an entire gender or race or caste can affect the performance of a company. Lets say you organise an event and the organisers are all men, they will not even know what arrangements they need to make for women participants who have periods or soemthing. So, the orgs need this for their own good
