religions and cults often operate on the premise that they possess exclusive access to divine truth or salvation.
Most religious traditions trace their origins to a single, highly charismatic founder or prophet (Like Jesus, Buddha, or Muhammad) whose personal authority galvanized early followers.
Both systems Discourage critical questioning, framing doubt or skepticism as a moral failure or spiritual danger.
Both also attempt to regulate behaviors into what they think are acceptable and 'un-sinful'

Really, if you actually look up the definition of cult, then more or less, you can find that almost every religion ends up being a spot-on definition of cult.

Pretty obvious, just look at what religions say and how much they hate each other.

Same with cults, a single, power hungry, and charismatic individual corroding the rationality of people with promises, social engineering at it's pinnacle.

Again, also true, especially when you consider how it's taught to children, hell-fear was a legitimate thing I had, since I went to a religious school, and if I questioned god, or if anyone else did, we'd be regularly reminded of hell, and that we must keep our piety by having 'faith'
