Members explored the historical significance of the Indus Valley and Mesopotamia versus modern perceptions of Japan and Nordic countries. This discussion highlights the diverse perspectives within our server, covering everything from ancient sewage systems to the global impact of anime and pop culture.
What do u think, and maybe take into account the history connected to the modern nations of tdy
i mean if we are talking bout modern history then region of europe might be up there
but if we take into account the ancient regions
then region of indus valley and mesopotemia might be longest running civiliztions
but rn nordic countries or switzerland or japan might be most civilised one
I heard Japan from miles away
Japan PR is just going crazzy in recent times
anything in japan is considered better atp
That and how good it is with soft power
exactly
Wouldn't u consider it more romanticised tho?
yea mostly in our generation due to widespread of anime
Makes sense
and japan is always minimilistic..and thats what the trend is rn
But with some things within anime, I don't think it's exactly a good thing if u get what I mean
Oh yh true
yea but u cant really critisice anime without being cursed by anime lovers
Yep, same thing for kpop🫠
So I won't go too deep in that
i have never understood the craze behind K pop but its others choice on what they like
Me neither
Once I had a teacher who made a tweet 'BTS sucks' and he got death threats for it💀
Ok how would u consider defining 'civilised' how would those civilisations connect to it
K pop has a cult fanbase..and most of em have combined braincells of an ant
Hahaha true
at that time they had a whole connected society..with educational centres, houses, their sewage system was really ahead of time
and they used to trade with each other a lot
even though we havent decrypted indus valley script..but some of it tells that they did traded with nearby civilisations
Interesting
and that civilsation is prolly the reason of South asia and middle east countries having comparatively higher population than rest of the world
I think that's also connected with the geography, since both civilisations (especially Indus) lived nearby major rivers since they needed their own water sources
No wait both of the did, I just checked a map for Mesopotamia
still rn around 300 million people depend upon indus river for water
Both were vast river-valley civilisations
Yep, since even tdy those rivers r crucial for humans to live
thats the reason even a society as big as them started there..if not for that humans would have just travelled away..and would have never settled at a single place
in small clans
Well some did drift away, ig to explore other places to live
Maybe curiousity to discover more
yea Migration currently known as Immigration

And yet nowadays ppl r fully against that
exactly
Tho nowadays there's nothing left to rly explore, it's just for better lives so it would've been for diff reasons from back then
yea but as we earlier food and other resources were most important thats why people migrated to find a better place
and rn job and work is a important thing
so people immigrate to find best opportunities
Yh exactly
Whatever helps them more
change is always inevitable
human history is full of changes
💯 trying to force restrictions on change also does backfire a lot, as shown in many irl events
Even forcing an outcome like in war
yess tho am not against countries limiting on how many people can migrate there
but calling others that they are just ruining their country is mostly a wrong fact even if we consider facts
Yh too much of smth will just cause issues, management is still needed since some may come with bad intentions
Ofc tho I there's a lot of factors to it, like considering the country where they came from might not have the capability of helping them
Prob that one country with suicide capsules.
which
I think it was the swiss or sm.
No clue
Civilised in terms of
Wtvr ur own definition is of it
Makes it hard
Yh, I wrote it as 'civilised' since I don't rly agree with using that word
But wanted to see what others thought
Id lwk say none
Ok lol
