A Christian Facebook post saying that allegorical, metaphorical passages in Proverbs and elsewhere in the Bible prove scientific facts that would later be discovered. One example it showed was that Romans 12:2 which says "be transformed by the renewing of your mind" is the Bible predicting the eventual discovery of neuroplasticity in neuroscience. How do we go from figurative language meant to convey spiritual lessons to a neurological discovery? How can u even prove this is apparently such a prophecy without admitting that you are just interpreting it that way? :lmfao:

Reminds me of this

Reply

Tell that to your Christian brethren on FB who think it is a parallel prophecy for 20th century science 🫠

Reply

This was only one of the many examples they gave too lol

Reply

Ooh, u don't hold to biblical inerrancy?

Reply

All the Christians I am around are total diehard biblical inerrancists because they are evangelical protestants

Reply

Ma 1st meeting with an Anglican! Probe time lol. What's your theory on the purpose of Jesus' death? PSA? Satisfaction theory? Etc?

When Anglican Protestant Orthodox and Evangelical argue

Reply

I was raised with and only really learned about PSA. I can't unsee its barbarity now 🥲
If I had to pick one, I personally like moral influence theory the most although I am not a believer

Reply

I think Christus Victor is 2nd place

Reply

What kinds of groups of Christians do u consider heretical?

Reply

Reply

Yeah they don’t

Reply

The 3 creeds are? Like, aside from Apostle's Creed or Niceaen Creed? Or something else?

Reply

Ooh, as in Athanasius of Alexandria? Gotta read that 1

Reply

You know Paul changed the whole scripts right? So it means the New Testament is modified

Reply

wdym it’s proven that Paul changed the bible

Reply

New Testament modified the old one

Reply

In fact the Old Testament mentioned world peace in the arrival of the Messiah

Reply

It would directly contradict Jesus as Messiah but the New Testament modified it

Reply

Am I wrong?

Reply

It is cuz the original text was replaced by Paul

Reply

We challenge Christianity as a whole

Reply

That’s the point of the server

Reply

Along with Islam and other religions

Reply

What do you mean by that

Reply

Because I don’t understand it fully I fear

Reply

Why do you believe Christianity

Reply

What was that experience

Reply

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argument_from_religious_experience?wprov=sfti1

Reply

Are you perhaps referring to this?

Reply

Because a spiritual experience doesn’t mean Jesus is god yknow?

Reply

That would be a silly conclusion

Reply

So what convinced you of the existence of god and god in human form (Jesus)?

Reply

This is an extremely weak argument

Reply

Are you sure that's what you're going with?

Reply

Why your intuiton claims Islam is false and that Christianity isn't?

Reply

I see you live in America, if you lived in the Middle East you would likely be a muslim

Reply

And if you lived in India you would be a Hindu

Reply

Completely Invalid

Reply

A muslim would tell you his intuiton proves that Allah exists and that Muhammad is his messenger

Reply

Would you accept such claim? that's what they claim.

Reply

If Intuition is a valid form of knowledge, then their intuition of belief in Islam is valid

Reply

But you would still disagree with a person that claims it

Reply

wouldn't you?

Reply

It proves absolutely nothing, that's the point

Reply

especially not in relation to the creation of the universe

Reply

that's why there's 7000 religions not one or two or three
