Spiritual Gifts (Foundational Beliefs #19)
The church is to come behind in no gift.
These gifts are bestowed by the Holy Spirit and are given “For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.” Speaking in tongues is only one of the many gifts given by the Holy Spirit and it is not a test of fellowship or a sign of salvation. The presence of the gift of the ‘Spirit of Prophecy (inspired and protected by the Holy Spirit)’ is to be one of the identifying marks of God’s true church at the end of time. We recognize that this gift was manifested in the life and ministry of Ellen G. White.
