Lebanon-Israel Normalisation: What Do Lebanese Think?

ملخص

In r/Lebanon, this discussion asks whether Lebanese people support normalisation with Israel amid heavy civilian casualties and rising anti-Shia and anti-Palestinian rhetoric. It weighs anger at Hezbollah against concerns that cooperation with Israel could deepen sectarian tensions or risk civil conflict.

Are the Lebanese open to normalisation with Israel?

first of all, I'd like to say that I'm not Lebanese so feel free to ignore anything I say. But I am just trying to understand the public sentiment.

Israel killed at least 357 Lebanese (overwhelmingly civilians) in a single day and has been intentionally bombing Sunni and Christian areas that have no Hezbollah presence to stoke sectarian tensions. Instead of anger at Israel, I've noticed the rhetoric has increasingly turned anti-Shia/Palestinian and now there's talk about the Lebanese government and Israel allying against Hezbollah.

I understand the anger at Hezbollah for dragging Lebanon to this war, but is it really wise to risk a civil war for Israel's sake? Especially knowing that Israel has a history with breaking agreements and refusing to give up captured territory unless forced by the US, which honestly doesn't seem likely now.
