Projects against UN aren’t anything new, see groups see examples like AUN are constantly around, however this specific instance is different, and worse. These groups used to target the players of UN in game, already making the players that probably was just trying to play the game without any knowledge of a discord for this group existing, which is already terrible. Instead of trying to simply target specific behaviors in game, targeting the development instead, seeking to handicap one of the most influential clans in the game under false calls of fairness or equity, whilst simultaneously sowing division within our community in which our compassion and unity is our strength.
Further with an update from Lewis it seems that all of this was just stirring the pot and proposing a system that discourages large clans whilst the dev team has created a system that better supports our communities, allowing large clans to exist whilst providing opportunities for small clans to rise among team leaderboards.

Ps @nanielson09 I don't know who you are, but you are weird champ
The following is a statement made by community director IamLewis about the petition:
First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to share this with us, and thank you to everyone who continues to put their passion into the OpenFront clan community. It's the dedication and engagement from players like you that make OpenFront what it is, and we genuinely appreciate it.
Clans are a huge part of what makes OpenFront special. Some of our largest communities — UN, CYN, Molky, PL, FR, and others — have grown into so much more than just clans. They're real communities, and that's something we want to protect and celebrate as we continue to grow.
We hear the concerns being raised about the impact larger clans may have on the leaderboards, and we want you to know this hasn't gone unnoticed. Leaderboard fairness has been a focal point of our internal planning and discussions around the future of clans for some time now.
As part of our wider clans rework, the second phase will introduce seasons to OpenFront clans. Under this system, only the top 100 players from each clan will count toward leaderboard standings, regardless of total clan size. This means clans will be measured on the performance of their most active and competitive members rather than sheer headcount, opening the door for skill and effort to genuinely shine through, no matter the size of the clan you represent.
We won't be implementing a hard member cap, as we don't want to break up the communities that have been built around larger clans, but we're confident the seasonal top-100 system will deliver the competitive balance you're asking for while preserving what makes these communities great.
More details on the rework and season timings will follow soon. Thank you again for caring enough to push for a better system — that's exactly the kind of engagement that helps shape OpenFront for the better.
The petition, as it was concluded to be by 1Bunnycuddles and takeser with the evidence provided, was to convince the community to position themself against UN, since the very beginning. During the beginning of their quest to gather signatures, they very openly opposed the UN, while flagrantly being unable to explain how the proposition could help other clans (see screenshot).
Further, many of the people who partake in the petition seem to be motivated by seeing the success of UN as the root of their issues, seeking to use UN as a scapegoat rather than trying to see how they can improve their own communities.
We, Takeser and 1Bunnycuddles, ran an experiment: to see how easy it was to get a clan to join the petition, so we made a clan.
We made a server on one of Takeser's alts, adding some of our alts to it to make sure it had more than 1 person in the server. mind you it had around 3 people before we tried to get the alt in. We then proceeded to have the alt to join the server. They didn’t even ask about the clan or any evidence about its existence and within maybe five minutes we had gotten in, eager to get who ever they could to sign on to make it as impressive as they could (in their eyes meaning as many names as possible) without any care for the quality of names which they had.
While the idea of any player being capable of creating a community is certainly important, it should also be considered that the lack of any background checks in their search for people indicates that they fail to hold themselves to recognize that there is in fact a difference between potential and acting upon that potential to get to the point where their community is important enough to hold sway over the community and dev team.
And while project founder Phantom may have come to see the size of large clans like UN as the key barrier for clans struggling to get their footing, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Activity rather is often what determines whether a clan is able to rise up or fade away. For example look at Nato, for a time it was one of the biggest and most active clans in the community besides the likes of UN, as well as the territorial crossover clans FR & PL, it had the size one might expect to keep its community sustained, however after a lul in activity around September, the activity that had once kept the clan alive had faded and eventually disappeared. None of this was the fault of large clans like UN but rather the result of players not congregating in the community since there wasn’t much activity to guide people to it.
Likewise groups like LBU, EU, CYN, and MARS all have been able to see relative success due to their groups having a baseload of activity, with people engaging in the server and VCs in order to give members a reason to stick around and engage. Often when players are looking for a clan they check servers to see who is on a voice call and maintain an active voice call before deciding whether to stay or try another. UN has been able to benefit the most from this tendency thanks to having the largest player count and as such, most consistent activity.
Many of the clan leaders that are a part of this movement seem to be of the belief that the size imbalance is the root of the problem rather than a symptom of poor activity, which while difficult, can be overcome.

To break it down into its basics, the petition seeks to limit the size of clans to a maximum of 500-1000 members, citing the disparaging size between clans as a reason that so many small clans fail. The direct outcome of this (without thinking too much about it) is that UN would get broken up as they would likely bypass any member limit the Phantom’s council would propose, handicapping the clan whilst likely simply spawning several other UNs with slight variation in order to support their community, adding strain to the UN staff team.
