Oreon 11 Release Delayed

Hey , as much as I hate to make this announcement, Oreon 11 is officially confirmed to be delayed to 2027. I tried to recruit people into our team last week, and posted it across several platforms. What I got in return was ignorance or spam asking me to pay for some "recruiting service." My lookout for new team members brought a total of ZERO new team members.

At this point, we have no other option than to delay Oreon 11, because there is NO WAY we're making the October release deadline with me doing all the work. Otherwise we'd end up with a buggy or unstable OS. We need at least 1-2 months of proof that Oreon 11 can be maintained on schedule in the beta phase without breaking things, so that when the release comes, we can continue that operation smoothly. I can't maintain a repository of over 20,000 packages alone. Nor do we have a 100% conflict-free Oreon 11 repo yet. Not to mention, our flagship features for Oreon 11 are nowhere near complete.

This is really frustrating, and I wish I could find a solution. I tried EVERYTHING I COULD to make the original September 2025 release date, then it got delayed to March 2026, then again to July 2026, and again to August 2026, then again to October 2026, and off we go into 2027.

Sorry for those who have been waiting, but there's nothing I can do to make it happen this year.

Oreon 11 (Beta Build 2607.3) - July 16, 2026

This is a beta build for Oreon 11 (Release Pack 1).

Build Notes:
- Introduced Oreon root-protection, a rollback system for ext4
- Run "sudo root-protection enable" to enable it, but you must install the OS with ext4, which is selected by default
- Further tested secure boot support, which works as expected: you clear the keys before installing, and once installed secure boot turns itself back on and boots normally

Oreon 11 (Beta Testing)

Hey , after nearly a whole year of development and planning, we have now released Oreon 11 in the Testing Channel (Beta) and has exited the Dev Channel (Early Preview). This means the OS is somewhat stable enough for daily use on another computer, but still not recommended for production environments.

We will slowly start documenting everything for Oreon 11 on the wiki and our website, so please be patient with us. Lots of stuff isn't finished yet, but will gradually build up into a more complete experience over the next few months.

We have updated our website to show Oreon 11, but it is listed as a beta.

aarch64 ISOs are not yet ready and are work in progress. x86_64 is ready.

Also note: the repositories may be a little broken for a few hours due to promotion of tens of thousands of packages to the testing branch. We're working on promoting all the packages to that branch.

We finally have a release date

Oreon 11 is scheduled to officially release on October 5, 2026. We know you have been waiting.
