Thanks,
HPonHBO Mods Ps. There's less than 200 days left untill the show's premiere! 🥳
We know this period of time while we have extremely little news about this show means there's not a lot to discuss, so naturally certain conversations that have been had before come up again. In itself, this isn't a huge issue, but when certain somewhat controversial topics are brought up again and again, like the ‘race swapping’ convo about Paapa Essideu's casting as Snape, it starts to become a larger problem.
Us moderators are primarily here to keep the community safe, fun and welcoming for everybody and while we're certainly not trying to prevent people from having/expressions their opinions, it gets to a point where some users feel uncomfortable and leave the server and we need to take steps to avoid this. It's especially problematic when these convos continue to pop up, and more drama is caused each time.
While we're not saying this will fix anything immediately, we are introducing a new channel called #🔮┃remembrall which will serve as a dedicated space where you can feel free to discuss things that have been discussed before at length. This is not only to keep conversations respectful and hopefully keep everyone feeling comfortable, but to also promote fresh discussions being had in the main channels. For a list of topics (currently just one) we deem to have been discussed repeatedly and should therefore only be talked about in this new channel, see this thread. If conversations come up that moderators feel should be discussed in this channel and not in general chats, users will be reminded to move over there and warnings may be issued if it continues.
For those of you that don't wish to be notified or see these conversations for any reason, you can mute the channel (right-click on desktop/long press on mobile then Mute Channel) or go to the section and simply uncheck the channel to completely hide it. Mods will be following this new rule pretty strictly, so please make sure to check this announcement or the thread again or contact us if you have any further questions. Thank you so much and we hope you can understand.
