Packs are expected to target vulnerable individuals, especially those who are injured. Once a target has been selected, individuals should work together to maintain pressure, gradually wearing their prey down. If a target proved too dangerous, healthy, or difficult to isolate, abandoning the pursuit is realistic.

Successful hunts strengthen social bonds, reinforce cooperation, and provide opportunities for food sharing among group members. Activity within this species leans more toward crepuscular, however, dire wolves may follow a cathemeral based schedule.
