Do Lebanese Realtors Disclose Haunted Properties?

Do Lebanese realtors have to disclose if a building or house is allegedly haunted ??

I once read a book by Rudolf Steiner in which he described cities & places as containing etheric energy spiritual residues that absorb & reflect energies of the people & events around them whether good or bad. That idea always stayed with me. In Lebanon certain buildings & places have witnessed continuous trauma from ancient times to modern. theres a heaviness in some spaces that’s hard to ignore especially if you're more sensitive to environments and people

I recently came across a post mentioning that in certain america states real estate agents are legally required to disclose if a property is believed to be haunted especially if such a reputation could affect its sale. This made me wonder: Do we have anything similar in Lebanon???

Given that so much in our society is sect based, & that both Christians & Muslims have rituals & traditions for dealing with jinn, spirits, or demonic energies does a haunted or spiritually burdened property fall under legal, religious, or purely private jurisdiction? After all many homes / buildings in 🇱🇧 have witnessed death, violence & traumatic despair . so my question is do lebanese estate agents have any legal obligation to disclose such histories or is it something that remains in the realm of community knowledge left to be addressed by priests, sheikhs, & imams?

I’ve even heard that some of the abandoned villas & buildings are not just neglected due to age or disrepair but are believed to be haunted people avoid them out of fear not just due to burdensome practicality of restoration of an old building

I found this online which reflects americans legal standard

“In most jurisdictions, legally a seller or their agent must disclose physical defects or events that materially affect the value of the property, such as structural damage or deaths on the premises within a certain timeframe. Alleged hauntings are usually not included. Agents cannot lie about such matters if asked, but they are usually not obligated to volunteer unasked disclosure about ghosts or a propert...

Lebanese Diaspora Love and Longing: A Personal Vent

My Body is Here, My Soul is Elsewhere (vent)

I am an 18 year old man from the Lebanese diaspora.

This story begins last summer, when I was seventeen and visiting my Fatherland for the first time in years. That summer was unforgettable– I became somewhat of a celebrity in my village, making friends left and right. I had so much fun, going to clubs in the city and spending precious time with my family and those friends. But the crown on the throne, the cherry on the cake, the orange blossom on the soil was my downstairs neighbor who was a younger girl. Her name was Maria.

She was a blast, but in a simple way. We would get lawn chairs and sit in front of our apartment building and just talk and talk for hours, about nothing and about everything. The time we spent together was simple, but it fulfilled me. Her wide smile, her playfulness and her sense of humor– it was just all so wonderful.

By the time my time there was running out and I had to go back to the states, the whole neighborhood was grieving my departure. But especially Maria.

About three days before I had to go, her and I went out on a walk in the village where we went picking flowers, jasmine and a couple other kinds. That's when she told me she had to tell me a secret, so I lent her an ear when she said she loved me.

I was in shock, it felt like forever that I was just standing there unable to respond. I thought to act quickly so I just simply told her I loved her back.

Before we knew it, the sun was coming down which meant we had to go back home before the dogs came out. And during that walk back home, what had happened was setting deeper and deeper into my soul.

She walked into the building ahead of me and she went down her flight of stairs parallel to mine, before I looked over the guard down at her and got her attention. I reached my hand down and she reached for it. I took her hand and gave it a gentle squeeze while smiling. Then we went back to our apartments.

After that, the feelings hit me like a truck. I got super giddy and almost screamed into my pillow. That showed that aft...

Ziad Al Rahbani: Art, Legacy & Uncertain Information

Emphasizing the Philosophical Core of Ziad Al Rahbani

Hey everyone, I've created this poster for Ziad Al Rahbani and I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.
It's titled 'معلومات مش اكيدة' 'Uncertain Information'. My aim with this design is to explore how Ziad's immense influence and spirit truly defy death, continuing to live on as a vital part of our culture here in Lebanon and beyond.

At the center, you'll see an extinguished cigarette. I specifically chose the cigarette because it was so iconic to Ziad he smoked a lot, it was part of his persona. But it also carries this incredible paradox for me: while smoking can be deadly, for some, it's a profound ritual of contemplation, a moment that paradoxically makes them feel alive. So, this stub represents a life intensely lived and concluded, but its smoldering embers and the ash clearly signify that a deep residue of his thought and being absolutely remains. For me, it's not just an end, but a transformation of his energy, still resonating and leaving its indelible mark.

If you look at the background, you'll see it's subtly textured with layered and fading Arabic lyrics from his famous song 'يا زمان الطائفية' 'Oh, Time of Sectarianism'. These aren't just words; they're the persistent echoes of his social critique and his powerful plea for unity. Even as they visually recede, they become deeply woven into our collective consciousness. There's this profound irony too: the very sectarianism he fought so hard against, for a brief moment in his passing, seemed to unite the entire nation in grief.

Finally, the title itself, 'معلومات مش اكيدة,' frames the whole piece. It challenges the very idea of an absolute end. It suggests that a spirit and a body of work as significant as Ziad's achieve a kind of immortality. For me, his physical passing becomes 'uncertain information' because his philosophy, his music, and his sharp observations continue to permeate our reality, shaping the present and echoing far beyond a single lifetime. In essence, I'm asserting that his legacy is a living, breathing force, a truth that remains...

Unmissable Beirut exhibition, ‘Impressions of Paradise’, spotlights why the Lebanese capital was known as the Paris of the Middle East.

The Nuhad Es-Said Pavilion for Culture in Beirut has welcomed its second ever exhibition with ‘Impressions of Paradise’, inviting visitors to take part in a captivating journey that explores the ‘Golden Age’ image of Lebanon through a collection of vintage tourism advertisements, archive documents and cinema posters from the 1920s to the 1970s, taken from the Philippe Jabre Art Collection.

Open until September 30, this impressive Beirut exhibition brings together iconic images of Lebanon’s past – from lush Cedar forests and Roman ruins, to beautiful beaches and charming villages – specifically crafted to appeal to Western eyes. They deliberately paint the ‘Paris of the Middle East’ as a gorgeous, exotic locale, whether that be for a personal holiday or the racy, exotic espionage thrillers once popularly depicted in regional films. It’s an image that many Lebanese still pine for today, but also one layered with complications, often tinged by bitterness and loss.

“This exhibition is – in essence – a reflection of my commitment to preserving, understanding and weaving together the diverse threads that have shaped Lebanon’s visual and cultural history over the past four centuries,” collection founder Philippe Jabre told AD, “from orientalist paintings to photographs to modern...

Does He Like Me or Is He Just Being Friendly?

What makes a guy not wanting to approach you ?

So for the last few days I had some shifts in the mall and while I was working there , a guy kept looking at me and making eye contact with me while passing by . It happened multiple times and I’ll catch him looking sometimes from afar before walking near me . He also told me “yaatike l afye “ while passing and I smiled but I don’t know if he saw me smiling lol .
When ever he walked past me he made sure to look at me but never approached me .
Is he just being friendly or does he like me ?
Idk if come off as intimidating or not interested because of my resting angry / bitch face .
And I’m usually not the type to approach guys because I don’t think I have enough confidence for that . I’ve been approached by guys multiple times while working and I always get surprised that it happens lol

How Ziad Rahbani Inspired Arabic Music Lovers

Ziad and the Rahbani family got me into Arabic language and culture

Hello everyone-- I'm an American lurker on your sub. I'm not of Arab descent, but I lived for a year in Jordan and for several years in Dearborn, MI, which has a large Lebanese diaspora community. I just wanted to post something about the death of Ziad Rahbani because he meant a lot to me too, even if I end up doxxing myself in the process.

My family and in particular my late grandmother have always been fans of music that had social commentary. My grandmother sang, up until the week she passed a few months ago, at a Folk music center in our city in California and did weekly singing sessions at her retirement community. Many of the songs she sung were by Americans who, like Ziad, used the lyrics of their songs to address issues of the time. Some of the artists included Pete Seeger, whose songs were influential in the Civil Rights Movement for black Americans in the United States. She and everyone in my family also always enjoyed Tom Lehrer, who passed yesterday, who wrote songs full of sarcasm that poked fun at US institutions and culture (Ziad even had a very similar voice to Lehrer).

I studied abroad in Jordan as part of my Middle East studies major to learn Arabic. When I was there, I tried my best to immerse myself in music from the region. Naturally, this led me to Fairuz, many of whose songs I still have memorized. It also led me to Ziad. I listened to all of his plays. I listened to and memorized much of his music. In the US we're generally under the impression that there's not a great degree of free speech in the Arab world, so the commentary in songs like Ana Moush Kafer and Shou hal ayyam was a bit of a pleasant surprise to me. His music could be quite funny, as in marba dalal (which I still have memorized) or poignant (bala wala chi), which also very much reminded me of the musical tradition I grew up in.

More importantly than the music itself though is that Ziad and his family have blessed me by helping me get to know and relate to people from an entirely different background than the one I gr...

Lebanon Debates National Mourning for Ziad al Rahbani

So our "Illustrious" PM Nawaf Salam doesn't want to declare a national day of Mourning for Ziad al Rahbani. What kind of bullshit is that?

I don't get it. If Ziad of all People doesn't deserve a day of mourning for his passing who does? Ziad was and always will be one of the cornerstone of lebanese art music and culture. Aznavour's body was paraded in the elysée the empire state building was lit with the batman signal in honor of Kevin Conroy yet here not even a day of mourning for one of our greatest artistic minds. Bcz there they actually have appreciation for their legends.

Walla 3ayb.

Man i hate this country sometimes

Right now there are debates storming social media on whether Ziad was a leftist or a right winger or if he was moumene3 or if he hated the sayyed or if he liked him. Yaane tfadalo a mfer can’t even rest in peace in this country.

We’re experiencing what is potentially the passing of the greatest lebanese artist ever, and we have people using it to promote their political stance.

And don’t even get me started on our arab “brothers” asking if "يجوز الترحم على الكفار"

Ziad Rahbani

There is news that Ziad Rahbani has passed away. I really used to love listening to his songs like Marba Dalal and 3ayshi Wa7da Balak. Mays El Rim's symphony is also beautiful.

I know that he had some political views that people may or may not agree with, but he was a true artist.

Lebanon Community Debates Leftism and Guitar Shops

What's your conception and understanding of "Communists" and "Leftists" ?

I often see these terms used around here as an insult, and to some, as the worst insult you can throw at someone. Why so? What's your understanding of people who fall under one or both of these categories? What does a "communist" in 2025, mean to you, and why?
