Early Baptism Views: History Before the Reformation

This is a good article linking to other good articles to study the history of beliefs regarding baptism before the Reformation. It's an important study for dealing with the question of baptismal regeneration (baptism saves), though Scripture itself is plain enough regarding the matter.

"Snake verse" resources

Here are a couple of good articles that address the "snake verses" (Luke 10:19 and Mark 16:15-18). The authors are dealing with the practice of snake handling, but they also address the overall meaning/application as well.

Become Comment Mod

Hey guys and gals,

I posted this in the subreddit, but I'm posting a version of this in the Discord as well for more reach.

So in an effort to better moderate the subreddit, we are experimenting with different ways to keep the subreddit on a solid biblical foundation. (As is evident from my last post requesting help) It's getting more difficult to keep it from becoming the Wild Wild West.

I had the idea of moderators who only deal with comments. In other words, members who help prune the comments as they participate in the community but aren't interested in or have time for other mod duties.

So if you have good biblical discernment and agree with our sub's rules and confession, we could really use your help.

Here's how it would work. If you see unbiblical comments that you sometimes wish you could remove, here's your chance!! We will give you mod powers to moderate posts and comments, and you won't be expected to be involved in any other mod discussions and duties.

The idea is, that as you are participating in the community you see an unbiblical comment, just remove it and add a removal reason (which is easy to do). And don't worry whether or not you should or shouldn't remove it. It might or might not get reapproved. It's ok either way. We'll learn along the way. You won't get your hand slapped. 😂

The theory is that this should be essentially effortless, and if we have a huge bunch of these Comment Moderators, the quality of the subreddit and the solidarity of the community will go up.

Because if this option doesn't work, the next phase may need to be moving to an approved-users-only model. Our Discord community has shown the mods how beautifully strong an online community can be, and it comes from stronger protection of community boundaries, not increased openness.

Anyway, if you are interested in helping build this "army" of Comment Moderators, you can say so here or DM me.

I mean, you could at least try it. What's it going to hurt? I mean it could be a complete disaster, but hey at least it will be interesting. 😁
