ayo (Animated)
What does the ayo emoji mean?
The ultimate reaction for when you see something absolutely unhinged.
This emoji features a close-up, multi-panel sequence of a gorilla staring intensely through a cage, often used to convey a sense of 'ayo' or 'hold up' in response to questionable messages. It has become a staple in meme culture for expressing disbelief, shock, or a 'caught in 4k' moment during chaotic Discord conversations. Its raw, slightly grainy aesthetic adds to the comedic impact of the reaction.
When to use it
- Reacting to a truly cursed message sent
- Expressing disbelief at a wild statement shared
- Calling out someone for being extremely suspicious
