What does the butBUT emoji mean?

A hilarious mix of intense anger and pathetic crying for when you're mad but also sad.

This emoji captures the quintessential 'angry-crying' vibe often seen in internet memes where someone is trying to stay tough while clearly upset. It is a staple for Discord users who want to express frustration or mock-outrage in a way that feels both dramatic and comedic. Use it when you are losing an argument but refuse to admit defeat, or when something is just unfairly annoying.

When to use it

  • Expressing frustration during a heated gaming match
  • Showing mock outrage at a bad take
  • Reacting to something both annoying and sad
