What does the despair emoji mean?

A hauntingly distorted face that captures the peak of internet cynicism.

This image is a heavily stylized, high-contrast edit of the classic Trollface meme, often referred to as the 'void' or 'trauma' version. It is frequently used in Discord servers to convey a sense of existential dread, dark humor, or a 'dead inside' reaction to chaotic situations. The extreme shadows and distorted features make it a staple for ironic meme culture.

When to use it

  • Reacting to an incredibly cursed chat message
  • Expressing deep existential dread during long conversations
  • Mocking someone with a dark sense of humor
  • Signaling that you are completely dead inside
