What does the youtried emoji mean?

The ultimate participation trophy for when someone gives their best effort but falls just a little bit short.

The 'You Tried' star is a classic internet meme used to sarcastically acknowledge someone's failed attempt at a task. It is the digital equivalent of a participation trophy, perfect for poking fun at friends who miss a shot, fail a challenge, or make a silly mistake in chat.

When to use it

  • Mocking a friend who failed a challenge
  • Acknowledging a funny but unsuccessful attempt
  • Sending a sarcastic reward for bad luck
  • Teasing someone who missed an easy shot
