What does the goon emoji mean?

A bold, pink-lettered declaration of pure, unadulterated internet degeneracy.

The :goon: emoji is a staple of chaotic internet culture, often used to jokingly (or self-deprecatingly) refer to obsessive or hyper-focused behavior. It is frequently employed in Discord servers to signal that a user is deep in a rabbit hole or engaging in questionable, time-consuming internet activities. The neon-pink, hand-drawn aesthetic gives it a distinct, low-fi meme quality that stands out in chat.

When to use it

  • Admitting to spending hours on the internet
  • Calling out someone for acting extremely weird
  • Highlighting a moment of intense, questionable focus
  • Joking about being deep in a rabbit hole
