What does the thonk emoji mean?

A deeply skeptical and judgmental take on the classic thinking emoji.

The :ithonk: emoji is a distorted, meme-ified version of the standard thinking face, often used to convey extreme skepticism or a 'really?' attitude. It is a staple in Discord servers for reacting to questionable takes, bad ideas, or moments that require a heavy dose of side-eye. Its exaggerated, lopsided expression makes it perfect for calling out nonsense with a touch of irony.

When to use it

  • Questioning a friend's questionable life choices
  • Reacting to a truly terrible hot take
  • Expressing deep doubt about someone's claim
  • Mocking a situation that makes no sense
