What does the maffs emoji mean?

When you're trying to act like a genius but the math just isn't mathing.

This emoji features the iconic 'Math Lady' or 'Confused Pepe' meme, where complex mathematical equations are superimposed over a character's face. It is a staple in Discord communities for reacting to confusing information, over-complicated explanations, or when someone is clearly struggling to process a difficult concept. It perfectly captures the feeling of intense, slightly overwhelmed intellectual effort.

When to use it

  • Reacting to an overly complex technical explanation
  • Expressing confusion during a difficult math problem
  • Mocking someone who is overthinking a situation
  • Showing brain overload after reading long messages
