What does the nope emoji mean?

When you're thinking about ending the conversation, literally.

This emoji is a dark, humorous take on the classic 'thinking' face, modified to hold a revolver to its own head. It is a staple of ironic internet culture, often used in Discord servers to express extreme exasperation, sarcasm, or a 'nope' reaction to a particularly bad take or awkward situation. It serves as a hyperbolic way to say you're done with the current topic.

When to use it

  • Expressing extreme frustration with a bad take
  • Reacting to an incredibly awkward chat message
  • Signaling that you are completely done talking
  • Adding dark humor to a chaotic conversation
