What does the VAR emoji mean?

The ultimate call-out for when the game is rigged or the ref is blind.

This emoji references the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system used in professional football. It is frequently spammed in sports-focused Discord servers whenever a controversial goal, penalty, or red card decision is being reviewed by officials. Use it to express frustration, skepticism, or to demand a review of a questionable play.

When to use it

  • Questioning a bad call by the referee
  • Demanding a review for a missed foul
  • Complaining about a controversial goal decision
  • Mocking the slow pace of game reviews
