What does the stop emoji mean?

When you've heard enough and just need to put a hand up.

This emoji features a classic yellow smiley face with a weary, resigned expression, holding up a hand as if to stop someone from speaking. It is a staple in Discord servers for shutting down bad takes, awkward conversations, or overwhelming spam with a single, non-verbal gesture of 'please, stop.'

When to use it

  • Shutting down a bad take in chat
  • Requesting silence during an intense conversation
  • Expressing exhaustion with someone's constant complaining
  • Signaling that you have heard enough nonsense
