STRATO’s weekly recap.

This week’s macro picture was shaped by a combination of stronger US labor data, shifting interest-rate expectations and renewed pressure in energy markets.

The US added 162,000 jobs in August, while unemployment remained at 4.1%. The stronger-than-expected labor market increased expectations that monetary policy could remain tighter for longer.

Precious metals moved lower during the week, with gold trading around $4,419/oz and silver around $65.83/oz by Friday. Higher yields and a stronger dollar remained important short-term headwinds.

At the same time, energy markets moved sharply higher. Brent rose approximately 7.6% during the week, while WTI gained close to 10%, driven by renewed geopolitical tensions and concerns around Middle Eastern supply.

The result is a mixed macro environment: economic activity remains resilient, inflation risks have not disappeared, and geopolitical uncertainty continues to influence commodity markets.

For STRATO, this remains an important backdrop. Gold and silver are not only stores of value, but assets that can increasingly become liquid, programmable and productive through onchain financial infrastructure.

DefiLlama now ranks $GOLDST third among all precious-metal assets by DeFi Active TVL.

This is not a ranking based on market capitalization or simply on how much gold has been tokenized, but on how much of that value is actually deployed within DeFi protocols.

Of GOLDST’s $26.67 million active market cap, $14.19 million is deployed in DeFi, resulting in a 53.19% utilization rate. That is particularly significant because GOLDST now sits just behind PAXG in DeFi Active TVL, despite PAXG having an active market cap roughly 69 times larger.

For STRATO, this shows that GOLDST is developing beyond a digital representation of vaulted gold. It is becoming usable onchain capital: an asset that can participate in liquidity, lending and other financial applications instead of remaining passive in a wallet.

The Dutch central bank has reallocated 86 tonnes of gold from New York and Ottawa to London.
