Help with Discord Reaction Roles and Verification

Sorry it timeouted me and delted my messsage.

So i got 2 problems. And i need BAD help with them.

1. First Problem is that I got there different channels and i want to do reactionrole with carlbot. I have done to some channels already but the issue is that the channel i want the reaction role and other channels doesnt show in #___. So it shows some channels but not all. And then it just randomly shows some channels and then again dissappear. And i am not doing anything with permissions. I have all permissions set to view the channel and i can see the channel and everything. But i dont know what is going on.

2. The second problem is that i got a unverified role that automatically gets a new member and after he/she ahs verfiyed he/she gets the memebr role and with it she/he can chat, talk... But hte problem is that the unverifeyd role can already write in some random channels in multiple and in one categori. So the unverifeyd can see the cahnnel or write in it and he/she supposed NOT do it. I got all the permissions right. I got ex. Doesnt se the cahnnel BUT still it sees the channel and in some cahnnels i got the exact same permissions andit works. I also take completly new ideas also. BUt i want something that the unverfied need to verify before it can talk.

hi there! so for the first issues, sometimes Discord hide channels by default, but if a user reacted, he CAN access to the channel even though by default, its hidden from the users.

There's literarily nothing you can do. The algo is a bit unclear, but in general, the older the channel, the more active the channel, the less likely that it is hidden by default.

so about the second issue, if an unverified user can write on your server, then something is off with your permission for sure.

So think about the discord permission as waterfall, u can setup a permisison ont he server level, for example, unverified can't chat, but if the categories level permissions, sometimes u accidentically leave unverified can check, then it will follow the category permisisons. (By default, make sure that all channels are set to private by default)

i saw taht you alreayd have the community onboading process, why do you need the carl bot for role reaction again?

i saw the music category role reaction channel, but i guess thats where you add the role reaction stuff from carl? what kind of roles do u further want to add?

for carl bot reaction roles (announcement ping / event ping):

make sure carl’s role is above the roles it needs to assign in Server Settings → Roles

make sure carl has View Channel + Send Messages + Add Reactions in that channel

if channels disappear in the dropdown, it’s usually a category permission override issue

for the unverified role:

most likely @ everyone or a category has Send Messages enabled somewhere.

best fix:

disable Send Messages for @ everyone at server level

only allow chatting through your Member role inside the categories you want

discord perms are super waterfall-based and one tiny override can mess everything up 😭

sorry for pinging but i got good news. the permissions should now work. Now we have one problem. Can it be fixed the #____ channeö thing? it is very important if i want to notificate something in some specific channel so i need it. Can it be fixed somehow?.

When you say the #channel thing, do you mean you can’t mention a channel, or that a bot can’t send messages in a specific channel?

For reaction roles, are you using a specific bot for that? I've used MEE6 bot for that sort of thing before, but I think Carlbot and Dyno offer it as well

So that is that i cant mention it, or the channels. I cant some few but not all. And all are on right permissions but idk. And i am using varl bot. I have done some already. And if i am not wrong so if i am on exempel on a bot dashboard and i need to selecat a channel so it doesnt show there either. And carlbot is that you do it in some random channel and then it asks that in what channel you want the reaction roles and exempel then you need to emntion the channel. And other wise alos i would want to mention some channels but they dont show. I dont know

hmm this sounds like a permissions visibility thing tbh

if some channels aren’t showing up in the dropdown (or you can’t mention them), 99% of the time it’s because the bot can’t see that channel

try double checking these -
- Make sure the bot’s role is above the roles it needs to manage in Server Settings → Roles
- Go into the specific channel → Edit Channel → Permissions
- Make sure the bot role has these perms -

• View Channel
• Send Messages
• Embed Links (usually needed for reaction roles)

If the bot doesn’t have “View Channel,” it just won’t show up anywhere in dashboards or mention lists

For Carl-bot reaction roles:

Go to the Carl dashboard → Reaction Roles → Create new
Pick the channel you want the message in
Set the emoji → assign the role
Done.

If certain channels aren’t appearing in Carl specifically, that’s almost always a permission issue on that channel

hmm if you just mean mentioning the channel like #announcements, that’s a visibility thing

If it’s not showing when you type #, it usually means you don’t have View Channel for that specific channel (or it’s hidden from your role)

Double check the channel permissions and make sure your role can see it
