Résumé
The Pokémon Champions | VGC Battles & Tournaments server is hosting a community discussion on optimizing a new competitive team build. Members are analyzing the viability of bulky Mega evolutions, Gholdengo coverage, and Sneasler's role as a physical attacker. This thread provides essential feedback on potential type weaknesses and strategic gaps to help players refine their lineups before entering tournament play.
It’s a bit of an unorthodox thought for the team. The idea is that both of my megas become extremely bulky and hard to get rid of while also redirecting damage away from my other mons. However I’m thinking I may have missed something and I don’t have enough coverage for match ups.
We have Gholdengo for Fairy, Ghost and Rock type coverage. This one is max speed modest for damage output. Tho I also considered running a speed boosting nature just in case of a mirror match.
Sneasler is the standard build, but is also my only physical attacker so I’m not sure that will be ideal.
Any coverage I’m missing? Any glaring issues that this team will run into that I’ve not seen?

What do you typically find urself losing to with this team?
I have yet to be able to test it aside from one quick casual match against a Riachu Y team that quit after turn 1.
I just mainly want to make sure that I’m not missing some glaring weakness. Like the team I built for my first singles event in Champions that looked good to me and then suddenly when the event started it was obvious that I completely forgot about Garchomp lol
I will do some testing tonight and report in bur if there are any adjustments I should make before then I’d love to hear it.
Only thing i see off the top of my head is both of your megas being weak to poison but no psychic and only one ground coverage
Now see this is what I’m talking about. The thought of both Megas being weak to poison and the main point being for them to soak the damage is a problem. Especially with Sneasler popularity being high.
What if I took out one of them and replaced it with Farig. This would also give me an option to counter trickroom since my main damage is all very fast.

Now only thing is only one mega. I suppose the easy answer is to change Volcarona to Zard but I’d rather not lose my beloved moth lol
Metagross over money
I’ve added Metagross and I changed Clafables moves a bit. Took out Rain Dance and gave it Icy Wind for some kind of speed control

At this point you should probably play it a bit and see how you feel
Did a few games of testing so far, and I’ve adjusted Metagross to be max attack and max HP instead of speed. I don’t need him to be fast and he was getting nuked by Shadow Ball.
Will do some more testing and see how that works out.
