Résumé
The Symbols for Object Lessons server hosts a deep dive into the historical and theological debate surrounding Sunday worship versus Sabbath keeping. This announcement examines early church writings from Ignatius of Antioch, Justin Martyr, and the Didache to argue for the Lord's Day. It also addresses counter-arguments regarding the immutability of God and the fulfillment of the Sabbath in Christ, inviting community members to engage with scripture and historical context.
All the early Christians had church on Sunday. Even in the book of Acts, we read on the first day, which is past the 7th day that would be on the Julian calendar, a Sunday, which is the first day of the week in the Jewish calendar.
Here we have a perfect example of first-century and third-century Christians after Christ, Christians who all had church on Sunday
Ignatius of Antioch (c. AD 107)
"...those who lived according to the old order have come to a new hope, no longer observing the Sabbath, but living according to the Lord's Day, on which also our life sprang up through Him..."
Didache (late 1st or early 2nd century)
The Didache says:
"On the Lord's own day gather together and break bread and give thanks..."
Justin Martyr (c. AD 150)
Justin gives the earliest detailed description of Christian worship:
"On the day called Sunday all who live in cities or in the country gather together in one place..."
Barnabas (c. AD 70–130)
The Epistle of Barnabas says:
"We keep the eighth day with joyfulness, the day also on which Jesus rose again from the dead."
The "eighth day" refers to the day after the Sabbath—Sunday.
Judging is wrong, and keeping sabbats too
Is there any bible verses that you'd like to add?
All that is here is extra-biblical stuff.
plus, how is Christ glorified above man here?
Malachi 3:6 KJV
Numbers 23:19 KJV
Hebrews 13:8 KJV
James 1:17 KJV
Psalm 102:27 KJV
God doesn't change and He doesn't speak things that don't apply forever.
Acts and also Christian history prove that you are teaching new inventions and teaching modern Zionism rather than what the holy apostles taught.
Because the sabath is made for men and not nen for the sabath
Christ is the sabath
a nd His resurection new life
and a new creation
so on the lords day we gather and break bread
But it was the Pharisees who refused to understand the mystery of God. When Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath, He, by His own will, lifted it and performed miracles and also allowed the apostles to eat on this day. When the Pharisees saw this, their hearts darkened further, and only in their lust for murder and jealousy did they seek even more to kill him.
Scripture please
& maybe instead of going on the offensive, you can love thy enemy as Christ instructed.
Thanks.
Matthew 12:8: "For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day."Mark 2:28: "Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath."
I thought you could read scripture
or at least memorize it
what are you talking about now?
How can you Judge on that? how do you know if I love my enemy or not?
Alright, I'll stop entertaining this.
Everyone can now see that you are being very antagonistic to those that you disagree with. That's not love, nor is it tough love, that's just hate.
In this case, it's a matter of consequences or seeing things for what they are.. and not Judging as ye say.
I'll cease from this banter.
God bless.
Don't stop acting like I am a hateful, bad person now. A good fact about this conversation is that you know that you're wrong about scripture and early first-century and third-century Christianity, which is the church in the first 100 to 300 years, as you have seen ☝️ they have church on Sunday.
- As it is a fact that the Lord's Day is the day of resurrection and that is 3 days thence from Friday, which is a Sunday.
Now you know that you believe in a modern Jewish Zionist perspective and not in a biblical original Christian one.
And then your charismatic movement of Sabbath day keeping is only 20 years old, and the other thing thereof
I know that you are not well educated in biology, theology, and church history.
But I am here for you if you are willing to understand Christianity. God Bless ☦️
Judaizing is wrong, and keeping sabbats too
