The second coming of Christ is the blessed hope of every believer. Throughout Scripture, God's people are urged to live in a state of readiness because no one knows the exact day or hour of Christ's return. Readiness is not fearfully watching the sky but faithfully walking with God each day.

Many spend considerable effort preparing for earthly events while neglecting preparation for eternity. Jesus warned that His coming would surprise many because they would be absorbed in the cares and pursuits of this life. The danger is not necessarily open rebellion against God, but becoming so occupied with temporal matters that spiritual priorities are forgotten.

Preparation for Christ's return begins with a daily relationship with Him. It involves prayer, Bible study, obedience, and continual surrender. Readiness is not achieved in a moment but developed through consistent faithfulness.

The good news is that God does not leave us to prepare alone. Through His Spirit, He works in our hearts, shaping our character and helping us overcome obstacles that hinder spiritual growth.

Today is another opportunity to draw closer to Christ. The question is not merely whether He is coming soon, but whether we are ready if He comes today.

If Christ were to return today, would I be prepared to meet Him?

Father, help me live each day in readiness for Christ's return. Keep my heart focused on eternal things and strengthen my walk with You. Amen.
