Smilodon Fatalis has a 15 minute hunting cooldown. After a successful hunt, you cannot initiate another until the cooldown is completed. If you weren't successful, a 10 minute cooldown will begin. Please alert staff if you need your hunger refilled.
After a failed hunt, Smilodon Fatalis must rest for 5 minutes. Otherwise, they must not engage in tracking players until 5 minutes.
Smilodon Fatalis are not permitted to raid carnivore dens if it is being guarded by an entire pack. They will only raid dens if it is to reduce competition, otherwise if resources are extremely slim. Smilodon Fatalis may hunt weakened or small carnivores if there are no other food options in the area.

Smilodon Fatalis is considered an ambush predator, primarily relying on concealment and close-range attacks. Individuals would likely position themselves within brush, uneven terrain, woodland edges, or tall vegetation before rapidly closing distance once prey entered an effective range. Smilodon will typically single out weak individuals, such as offspring or injured herd members. Otherwise, they may wait until a player has laid down.
Stalking and tracking behavior can be done for a moderate duration, waiting until targets are vulnerable, sleeping, or not on alert.

Maternal females introduce hunting skills gradually. Cubs may learn by following their dam at a distance, watching stalking behavior, and observing how prey is assessed or approached. During a cub's maturity process, their mother may allow brief and supervised interactions near carcasses or weakened prey, where cubs can begin practicing their skills.
Maternal females will occasionally need to leave their cubs temporarily to secure food. In these situations, cubs would typically be concealed in a sheltered den or protected resting site. Meanwhile, the mother attempts to hunt or scavenge within her home-range.

In cases where multiple individuals converge on a carcass, proximity tolerance would depend on resource abundance, injury risk, and prior familiarity. In favorable conditions, especially where large prey was available, individuals may feed in relative proximity while maintaining strict boundaries. However, this would not represent true group cooperation.
Feeding order was probably fluid and based on dominance, arrival timing, and persistence. Individuals would often alternate between feeding and monitoring behavior, pausing to assess nearby threats or competitors. If tension increased, weaker or less assertive individuals will typically withdraw.
