HSBC director Miles said about the Homestuck Collection lawsuit article, shortly after it was released:

i anticipate there will probably be some kind of official counter-argument or whatever from Homestuck (not the HICU, not FRAF) in the coming days with more Capital D Documentation, so if you’re looking for a more Annotated Account, that’s probably where you’re gonna get it, not here

It's been 139 days since this statement. No Capital D documentation has appeared to support Miles' point that Gio's accusations were incorrect in any way.

As a reminder, the Unofficial Homestuck Collection got takedowns, legal threats and its devs abuse thrown at them, with no apology or acknowledgement of the harm caused. Bambosh is still under a borderline illegal NDA for no good reason. All because of a negative article about Hiveswap that Hussie didn't like.

HIVESWAP ACT 3 NEWS

• There was just a three-hour+ Act 3 stream that showed the first part of the act. It seemed much like the train section of act 2, featuring long stretches of talking to a bunch of fantrolls around Jeevik's mansion and making minor short-term decisions once every 20 conversations (they said choices might matter down the line). There were no puzzles whatsoever.

• Throughout the section, two music tracks played, maybe composed by James Roach or a good impersonator. They were a bit weird, feeling more like short one minute loops that repeated over and over and over.

• Unless it appears later, the feature of being able to access an Amazon-like shop and other troll websites seems to have been cut. The only feature other than walking and talking was a "clout meter" that went up or down depending on who you talked to.

• They called this 3-hour section with three large environments a "scene", and a small part of Act 3. Supposedly the full thing will be longer than A1+A2 combined... then someone anxiously piped in to say it's longer by WORD count. It feels really wordy but in a visual novel sense.

• At the end, this image was shown, though we already knew 2026 was the plan. They said what was shown is a fully playable demo they'll release soon, I assume on Steam. They want to do it before the end of the year. Saves won't transfer into the main game.

the homestuck team has done the rare great thing: the bandcamp is coming back as it was, with track art and even the lost albums returning. case in point: https://homestuck.bandcamp.com/album/the-wanderers (I recommend the first track, one of my favorites in the soundtrack)

this is a work in progress, though, not all albums are back yet, but based on the current rate they might be ~~by tomorrow~~ (everything is back except c&m B which is still merged with A for complicated ressons)

The Wanderers, by Homestuck

16 track album

New information about the Homestuck animated pilot from the Q&A:
- Coming September 27th
- Andrew isn't writing the script, he just hangs out in production chats, has his say and "he chimes in"
- There is "new stuff" and the story is slightly changed... "make Homestuck more accessible for you know, an audience"... "more digestible", but want to make it good for both sides
- Original songs for the pilot, but "planning to use as many from the Homestuck OST as we can"
- Pilot is extremely short for a M-ish rated show (11 minutes) and is basically "just a taste" of what you'd get with a full series, I don't get the feeling it will be episode 1 of the show if it gets approved, they'll have to remake it
- They'll skirt the line of "parody rule", they bring up Con Air by name at least but confirm the posters are blurred. Didn't seem to want to commit on whether the more important elements made it in
- Andrew got Toby into the show, the show didn't contact Toby
- Vivzie has zero involvement besides money and profit
- Not a musical
- Period accurate

Hussie is releasing a short new comic, a sequel to Bard Quest, Jester Quest. There are currently six pages, which I've mirrored here, since it's currently only readable if you happen to browse the same Discord server:

Following on the heels of Jonaya's FRAF announcement, her online convention SAHCon is also going away forever, ostensibly due to a lack of free time as well as a loss of interest in Homestuck:

We want to see SAHCon go out on a high note rather than stumble along as some shadow of its former self [...]
2025 will be the last year of the convention.

Though the announcement says nothing about this... it partially matches what SAHCon member Funk McLovin leaked a while back:

Though Cro and Jonaya have hosted SAHCon in years past, this was to be their final SAHCon before handing it off to new organizers. Who these organizers will be is anyone's guess, because as far as I understand, SAHCon is essentially being taken over by Andrew Hussie and a team adjacent to him.

Who is on this team, why they have decided to take control [...] is unknown to me, as whenever I ask, I am either brushed off or stymied by vague allusions to nondisclosure agreements.

What the future of SAHCon will look like or what SAHCon will look like this year is completely unknown to me. [...] I know that in 2023, SAHCon partnered with the "HICU," or the Homestuck Independent Creative Union with an official license, making SAHCon 2024 the first licensed online event.

RJ: Short story short, you know, just--Homestuck built itself around structures that I think ended up being really weird about that stuff, and I don't think any of us really thought about it that much, because we were fucking children on that music team, for the most part. [...] That kind of lent itself to... we were making music for money and we were also only getting 30% of the profits from the music [...]

The following is my opinion: record companies' draconian cuts used to be industry standard (now they are closer to 50/50), which made slightly more sense as the company promotes you, organizes concerts, makes merchandise, vinyls, CDs, and helps you in many other ways, propelling you into the mainstream.

For indies, this is different. Even back then, for successful musicians, only 10% went to Bandcamp (who did most of the work) before profits. Those profits got and continue to get further broken down, with 70% currently going to Andrew Hussie for... once posting a news post about each album and using the tracks on his webcomic for free.

Compounding this are very recent reports that at least one musician hasn't gotten paid for their Bandcamp sales in like a year. Payments were supposed to be sent quarterly. If you're in contact with Hussie, you should do everything you can to get him to remedy this continuing exploitation.

Two pieces of bittersweet news today.

First, an entire project pulls out of FRAF after its leader reads the contract more carefully:

My primary concern has always been with the fair treatment of the many talented, creative individuals that worked on this project. While FRAF seemed like an interesting idea that would help promote their work, after some thought on this my concerns about potential conflicts of licensing outweigh the benefits of involvement with FRAF.

If you don't remember what the FRAF (Fruity Rumpus Asshole Factory) license is, it's something Andrew Hussie recently introduced to "officialize" and extract profit from fanworks he has no involvement in, with nothing but exposure and vague legal implications in exchange.
If you're part of FRAF, or about to become part of it, please have a lawyer look over the contract, for your own sake.

Related, and uncovered today, this interview from Robert J! Lake, Homestuck musician known for flash tracks The Beginning of Something Really Excellent (Jade playing the bass) and Let The Squiddles Sleep (Jade dreaming about horrorterrors). You might have seen him at Gamescom recently for his game Unbeatable.

In the interview, we get the following exchange:
