Ive been thinking about a tailroom team with Whimsicott, Rillaboom and Farigaraff, and I whated to try Switcharoo, tailwind, moonblast and protect on a more bulky stat line up. How well could that work outside of shock value on ladder?

It can work as a targeted disruption option, but I’d want a specific matchup it improves before choosing it over Sash. Iron Ball slows Whimsicott too, and Prankster doesn’t let Switcheroo bypass opposing Dark-types. You also can’t steal a Pokémon’s usable Mega Stone. That leaves some important M-C targets off the table.

The Tailroom tension is that slowing an opponent can actually help them once Trick Room is up. I’d first test the same six with a conventional Whimsicott item, then compare whether Iron Ball wins games that Tailwind or reversing Trick Room wouldn’t already solve. Bulk alone doesn’t guarantee it survives a double target.
