Server Review Policy

Rules for writing, reading, and reporting reviews on CommunityOne server listings.

For reviewers

  • Write about your own experience. What was it like to be in this server? Reviews are most useful when they describe what you actually saw and did.
  • You can review a server you've left, including one you were banned from. Once we've confirmed you were a member, that stays true. Server owners cannot remove your review by removing you.
  • Be specific, not personal. "Moderators didn't respond to reports for weeks" is useful. Naming and attacking individuals is not, and will be removed.
  • Don't share private information about anyone — real names, locations, workplaces, contact details, screenshots of DMs.
  • One review per server. You can edit it any time. If the server changes, please update it — recent reviews carry more weight than old ones.
  • If you manage the server, you can still leave a review. It will show an Admin label so readers know it came from the team.
  • No promotion. Don't advertise other servers or include referral links.

For server owners

  • You can leave a review on your own server. It is labeled Admin so visitors can tell it apart from member reviews.
  • You can reply publicly to any review. Your reply appears directly beneath it and is clearly marked as coming from the server. For most disagreements this is the right tool: readers get both sides and can judge for themselves.
  • We remove reviews that break our rules — harassment, doxxing, spam, wrong-server reviews, fake accounts, and specific factual claims you can disprove with evidence.
  • We do not remove reviews for being negative, for expressing an opinion you disagree with, or for coming from someone you banned or who left. Former and banned members keep their review rights. This is deliberate: a discovery platform where owners can delete criticism is worthless to the people using it.
  • How to report: select the specific rule you believe was broken and attach evidence where required. We aim to respond within 5 business days. Reports that just express disagreement are closed automatically.
  • The best way to improve your rating is time. Newer reviews count for more than older ones, so a server that addresses problems recovers on its own.

Owner FAQ

Can I get a negative review removed? Only if it breaks a rule below. Disagreement, harsh tone, or a banned reviewer is not enough.

What can I do instead? Reply publicly when owner replies ship. Until then, improve the server — recent reviews weigh more than old ones.

How does my rating recover? Newer reviews count for more than older ones, so a server that fixes problems recovers on its own.

Grounds for removal

Every report and every removal must cite one of these rule codes.

R1 — Personal attacks, doxxing, or harassment

Real names, addresses, workplaces, contact details, or private information about any individual. Slurs, threats, or sexual harassment. Targeting individual members or moderators by name for abuse (naming a moderator in a factual account of what happened is not itself a violation).

R2 — Spam or promotion

Advertising, referral links, or promoting a competing server. Repetitive or machine-generated content.

R3 — Wrong target

The review clearly describes a different server, or is otherwise unrelated to the listed server.

R4 — Disproven specific factual claim

The review makes a concrete, checkable factual assertion that the owner disproves with evidence. Evidence is required, and the claim must be genuinely falsifiable — "they charge money to join" rebutted with a screenshot of an open invite qualifies. Interpretations, opinions, and characterizations do not qualify: "the mods are unfair," "it's dead in here," "the vibe is hostile" are not removable under R4 no matter how strongly the owner disagrees. Where a claim is partly checkable and partly interpretive, remove nothing and let the owner reply.

R5 — Illegitimate account

Confirmed sockpuppet, ban-evasion account, purchased review, or part of a detected coordinated brigade.

R6 — Legal requirement

Content that must be removed to comply with applicable law or a valid legal order.

Explicitly not grounds for removal

  • The review is negative, harsh, or unflattering.
  • The owner disagrees with the reviewer's opinion or characterization.
  • The reviewer was banned, muted, or removed from the server. Banned members retain full review rights.
  • The reviewer is no longer a member.
  • The review is old. (Recency weighting handles staleness; removal does not.)
  • The review mentions a dispute, drama, or moderation action the owner would rather not have public.
  • The review hurts the server's ranking or growth.

Upvotes

Upvotes are a ranking signal, cast on the website only. You can upvote a server again every 12 hours. Monthly ranking uses a rolling 30-day vote count. Each vote grants that server 5 boosted front-page impressions. Reviews are separate: one per server, editable, never on a cadence.
