Pokémon Auction Tournament Format

Overview

This tournament will use an auction draft format. Each player will build a team of 8 Pokémon by bidding on Pokémon during the auction.

Every participant starts with 2,000 auction points to spend. Once a Pokémon is won in the auction, it cannot be drafted by anyone else.

Building a strong team while managing your budget will be key to success.

Team Building Rules

  • Each player starts with 2,000 points.
  • Each player must draft 8 Pokémon.
  • Each player may draft a maximum of 1 Uber Pokémon.
  • No duplicate Pokémon are allowed.
  • Teams are locked after the auction is completed.

Uber Pokémon

The following Pokémon are considered Ubers:

  • Miraidon
  • Koraidon
  • Zacian-Crowned
  • Necrozma-Dusk-Mane
  • Kyogre
  • Groudon
  • Eternatus
  • Ho-Oh

Each player may only have one Pokémon from this list on their roster.

Auction Format

  1. Players will take turns nominating Pokémon.
  2. The nominated Pokémon will begin at its listed starting bid.
  3. Players may bid against each other using their auction points.
  4. When bidding ends, the highest bidder wins the Pokémon and pays the final bid amount.
  5. The process continues until every player has drafted 8 Pokémon.

Bidding Rules

  • Minimum bid increase: 25 points.
  • Players cannot bid more points than they currently have.
  • Players must always keep enough points to fill the remaining spots on their roster.

Match Format

Each matchup will be a Best-of-3 series:

Battle 1

  • Singles Battle

Battle 2

  • Doubles Battle

Battle 3 (If Necessary)

  • If the series is tied 1-1, a coin flip will determine whether the deciding battle is:
  • Singles, or
  • Doubles

The winner of the deciding battle wins the series.

Pokémon Usage

The same roster of 8 Pokémon will be used throughout the tournament.

Players may choose which Pokémon from their roster to bring to each battle, following the rules of the battle format being played.
